A total of 701 luxury electric cars were registered in July 2026, which is an increase of 59.3% as compared to 440 units in July 2025.

BMW Continues to Dominate Luxury EV Segment

Mercedes-Benz Maintains Second Position

Mercedes-Benz also performed well in July. The company registered 163 luxury electric vehicles, a 41.7% increase compared to July 2025. With this, Mercedes-Benz maintained its second position, achieving a 23.3% market share.

While registrations declined on a month-on-month basis, the annual growth indicates that the popularity of Mercedes’ electric models is steadily increasing among Indian buyers.

Tesla Becomes the Biggest Surprise of July

If anyone could be called the biggest winner in India Luxury Electric Car Sales in July 2026, it would be Tesla. The company recorded 115 luxury EV registrations in July, compared to just 38 units in June.

This means Tesla achieved 202.6% month-on-month growth in just one month, directly becoming the third-largest brand in the luxury EV market.

The company’s 16.4% market share indicates that Indian premium EV buyers are now considering Tesla as a serious option.

Volvo Registers Steady Growth While Porsche Slips

Volvo registered 49 electric vehicles in July 2026. The company recorded positive growth on both a year-on-year and month-on-month basis. Although overall market share declined compared to the previous year, Volvo maintained its presence.

On the other hand, July wasn’t particularly good for Porsche. The company was limited to just six registrations, further reducing its market share.

Audi and Lotus Fail to Register Any EV

Audi and Lotus’s accounts for July 2026 luxury EV registrations were completely empty. Both brands failed to register a single electric vehicle.

This data shows that competition in the premium EV segment is rapidly increasing and simply having an established luxury badge is not enough.
