Ducati has revealed the second-generation New Ducati DesertX, introducing a comprehensive update to its middleweight adventure motorcycle. The new model has been redesigned around the brand’s latest 890cc V2 engine and a new chassis architecture, with European deliveries scheduled to begin in April 2026.
According to Ducati, the New Ducati DesertX has been developed using customer feedback and insights gained from its rally racing programmes.

New Ducati DesertX Engine & Chassis Architecture

At the heart of the updated DesertX is Ducati’s new 890cc V2 engine, which replaces the previous 937cc Testastretta unit. Despite the smaller displacement, output remains unchanged at 110hp and 92Nm.
Ducati claims that 70 percent of peak torque is available from just 3,000rpm, which should improve low-speed tractability for off-road riding. The gearbox has also been revised, with shorter lower gears for technical terrain and a longer sixth gear for relaxed highway cruising.
The engine now serves as a load-bearing component within an all-new monocoque frame, helping reduce weight and improve structural rigidity.
Revised Suspension And Off-Road Hardware
The new DesertX continues to focus on off-road capability with updated suspension and braking components. It features:
- Fully adjustable KYB USD forks with 230mm front travel
- A rear monoshock with a full-floater linkage offering 220mm travel
- Brembo M4.32 monobloc calipers with new 305mm front discs
The motorcycle rides on a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear tubeless spoked wheel setup, fitted with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres, maintaining its serious dual-sport intent.
New Ducati DesertX Ergonomic And Weight Updates

Ducati has made several ergonomic revisions to improve rider control. The footpegs are more rear-set, while the handlebar and seat have been moved slightly forward to enhance riding posture.
The new 18-litre fuel tank is slimmer and lighter, with fuel mass positioned lower to reduce the centre of gravity. The DesertX has a claimed wet weight of 209kg (without fuel), making it 1kg lighter than the outgoing model.
Seat height is 880mm, which can be reduced to 840mm with an optional low seat and suspension kit.
Advanced Electronics Package
The second-generation model comes equipped with a six-axis IMU managing multiple rider aids, including:
- Cornering ABS
- Traction control
- Wheelie control
- Engine brake control
- Bi-directional quickshifter
Riders can select from six riding modes: Sport, Touring, Urban, Wet, Enduro and Rally. All ride data is displayed on a new 5-inch TFT instrument cluster.
New Ducati DesertX India Launch Outlook

While Ducati has confirmed that European deliveries will begin in April 2026, the company has not announced an India launch timeline yet. However, given that most of Ducati’s global adventure lineup is available in the country, the updated DesertX is expected to reach Indian showrooms at a later stage.
For Indian buyers, the update signals continued development in the premium adventure segment, where demand for high-performance dual-sport motorcycles has been gradually increasing.
Conclusion
The second-generation New Ducati DesertX introduces a new engine platform, revised chassis and updated electronics while retaining its off-road-focused character.
With European deliveries starting in April 2026 and an India launch likely to follow, the model represents Ducati’s latest step in strengthening its middleweight adventure motorcycle portfolio.
