BMW has officially launched the updated BMW 7 Series & i7 Facelift in India. This mid-life update to the G70 generation brings major upgrades to exterior styling, cabin technology, rear-seat comfort, and powertrain.
The updated models arrive in India nearly four years after the original G70 generation’s global debut.

Prices for the BMW 7 Series in India start at Rs. 1.95 crore, while the new M70 xDrive variant in the electric i7 range is available for Rs. 2.65 crore. The 7 Series and i7 eDrive50 will be locally assembled in India, while the range-topping i7 M70 xDrive will come via the CBU route.

BMW i7 Facelift: New M70 xDrive Added
The biggest addition to the BMW i7 facelift’s India range is the M70 xDrive variant. It features a dual-electric-motor setup, generating 680 bhp and up to 1,100 Nm of torque. BMW’s performance flagship takes just 3.8 seconds to complete the 0-100 kmph sprint.
The i7 M70 xDrive has a claimed WLTP range of 686 km. This variant has been introduced in India via the CBU route and is priced at Rs 2.65 crore (ex-showroom).
Meanwhile, the i7 eDrive50 gets an upgraded 112.5kWh battery pack, bringing the claimed range to 728km (WLTP). The updated i7 range also features improved charging performance with new-generation battery technology.
BMW 7 Series: 740 Petrol Continues
The 740 petrol variant continues in the India-spec BMW 7 Series facelift. It features a 3.0-liter inline-six petrol engine producing 400bhp and 540Nm. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
The sedan can sprint from 0-100km in 5.4 seconds, while its electronically limited top speed is 250km. BMW has increased output to 400hp in the international-spec facelifted 740 xDrive, although India-spec configurations may vary depending on the market.
BMW 7 Series & i7 Facelift Get Multi-Screen Cabin
The most noticeable upgrade of the facelift is seen in the cabin. The BMW 7 Series and i7 receive a pillar-to-pillar Panoramic Vision display along with a 14.6-inch passenger display, replacing the traditional instrument cluster layout on the dashboard.
The 31.3-inch 8K Theater Screen for rear passengers has been retained. This screen can be paired with a Bowers & Wilkins sound system, creating a proper rear-seat entertainment setup. BMW has updated the infotainment system with the latest BMW Operating System X.
Enhanced Executive Lounge Rear Seat Package
Rear-seat luxury has been further upgraded in the BMW 7 Series facelift. The Enhanced Executive Lounge package includes a rear seat reclining function, with torso angle adjustment up to 43 degrees.
Other highlights include radar-based automatic doors with Soft Close, updated BMW Individual Merino leather, Crafted Clarity glass controls, and ambient lighting. Rear passengers also receive comfort features such as heated, ventilated, and massage functions.
BMW 7 Series Facelift Design
On the exterior, BMW has given the 7 Series subtle but noticeable visual updates. The front profile gets revised split LED headlights, illuminated kidney grille and a redesigned bumper, while the grille now gets a cleaner horizontal-slat treatment.
The rear profile has slimmer tail-lamps and revised bumper design. The overall look of the flagship sedan has become more modern and monolithic with new alloy wheel designs and updated lighting signatures.
The flagship luxury character of the BMW 7 Series continues with its large dimensions. The length of the sedan is around 5.3 meters and wheelbase is around 3.25 metres, giving it a particularly spacious rear cabin.
BMW 7 Series & i7: Local Assembly
With the new-generation facelift, BMW has given India a more important position on the production map. The 7 Series and i7 eDrive50 are assembled locally, while the high-performance i7 M70 xDrive continues to come to India as a CBU.
Local production of the BMW 7 Series is already established in India, while the updated i7 adds another important step to BMW’s local EV manufacturing strategy.
BMW 7 Series & i7 Facelift Rivals
The BMW 7 Series’ primary competition in India comes from the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, while the electric i7 competes directly with the Mercedes-Benz EQS. Models like BMW X7, Mercedes-Benz GLS and Volvo XC90 are also alternative options for luxury SUV buyers.
In the electric luxury space, the i7’s combination of long range, rear-seat technology and performance-focused M70 variant makes it a strong proposition against rivals like the Mercedes-Benz EQS.
