BMW has unveiled a new M Performance Track Kit designed for the M2 Coupe, along with a new lightweight M Performance exhaust system for the more extreme M2 CS. The performance-focused package will be available internationally from July 2026, although BMW has not yet confirmed its launch timeline or pricing for India.

The BMW M2 M Performance Track Kit has been developed specifically for track use and brings several aerodynamic and suspension upgrades aimed at improving performance during high-speed driving.

Track-Focused Aerodynamic Upgrades

The new package introduces multiple aerodynamic components intended to enhance stability and downforce on the racetrack.

At the front, the M2 receives a manually adjustable splitter integrated into the front diffuser, along with fixed wheel-arch diffusers and a scoop positioned below the engine oil cooler. These additions are designed to improve airflow management and cooling efficiency during demanding driving conditions.

At the rear, BMW has fitted a large adjustable wing inspired by the M4 GT4 and M4 GT3 race cars. The wing can be adjusted manually and also features a special Race Mode that shifts the wing 50mm rearwards, increasing aerodynamic efficiency at higher speeds.

The rear wing’s angle can be adjusted in two stages to alter rear downforce depending on track conditions. It also integrates a brake light within the assembly.

BMW states that the components were engineered with input from its M division specialists and were validated through wind tunnel testing.

Suspension Enhancements for Track Driving

The BMW M2 M Performance Track Kit also includes four-way adjustable dampers and upgraded support bearings, allowing drivers to fine-tune suspension settings based on driving style and track requirements.

Ride height can be lowered by up to 20mm at both the front and rear, improving the car’s centre of gravity and cornering stability.

These mechanical upgrades are aimed at drivers who plan to use the M2 primarily for track sessions rather than everyday road use.

Engine Remains Unchanged

Despite the aerodynamic and suspension improvements, BMW has retained the existing engine configuration.

The 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged inline-six petrol engine continues to power both versions of the car. The standard M2 produces 480hp, while the more track-oriented M2 CS delivers 530hp.

BMW’s decision to keep the engine unchanged suggests the focus of the Track Kit is on improving handling dynamics and aerodynamic efficiency rather than increasing power output.

Lighter Exhaust for M2 CS

Alongside the Track Kit, BMW has also introduced a new M Performance exhaust system for the M2 CS.

The revised exhaust routing enhances the sound profile of the inline-six engine and reduces weight. BMW claims the system is approximately 8kg lighter than the standard exhaust unit.

Buyers will also be able to choose between carbon-fibre or titanium tailpipe trims, depending on personal preference.

What It Means for Enthusiasts

BMW M2 M Performance Track Kit reflects the brand’s continued focus on offering factory-developed upgrades for enthusiasts seeking greater track capability. By focusing on aerodynamics, suspension tuning and weight reduction, the package aims to improve lap-time potential without altering the engine’s output.

For markets like India, where track-focused accessories remain niche but growing, such packages highlight the increasing demand among performance car owners for factory-backed motorsport-inspired upgrades.

Conclusion

The introduction of the BMW M2 M Performance Track Kit and lightweight exhaust upgrade expands the customisation options for BMW’s M2 lineup. While primarily aimed at track enthusiasts, these upgrades demonstrate how manufacturers are offering more specialised performance enhancements through official accessories.

Whether the package arrives in India remains uncertain, but it underscores BMW’s strategy of blending motorsport engineering with road-legal performance models.
