Tata Motors’ upcoming Tata Aeris EV has been spotted once again during road testing. The latest spy image that surfaced on social media shows the compact electric sedan with heavy camouflage.
This spotting comes at a time when the petrol and iCNG versions of the Tata Aeris have been launched in the Indian market, replacing the Tigor, but its electric version is not yet officially available in the lineup.

According to the latest reports, the Aeris EV could be introduced in the market by the year-end. Some automotive listings are suggesting a tentative launch timeline of December 2026, but Tata Motors is yet to officially confirm this date. Therefore, December will likely be considered the expected timeline for now.

Tata Aeris EV Spotted With Heavy Camouflage

The latest spotted car is covered with heavy patterned camouflage on the exterior, making it difficult to fully identify the final design details of the production-spec electric sedan. However, overall proportions indicate that the car will retain the compact sedan silhouette.
Compared to the petrol and CNG Aeris, the EV version may feature some EV-specific design changes to the exterior. The Tata Aeris already replaces the Tigor-based compact sedan architecture with an extensively redesigned exterior, and the EV version is expected to continue the same basic package with an electric powertrain.
The petrol/CNG version of the Aeris features design updates such as slim LED headlamps, a revised front bumper, LED fog lamps, new 15-inch alloy wheels, and connected-style rear lighting. The EV version is also expected to see an evolution of these styling cues.
A 26kWh Battery May Be a Choice
Reports currently differ regarding the Tata Aeris EV’s battery pack. According to the latest information from Autocar India, the Aeris EV is expected to feature a 26kWh battery pack and a front-mounted electric motor. However, earlier reports also suggested the possibility of borrowing 19.2kWh and 24kWh battery packs from the Tiago EV.
Therefore, the 26kWh battery cannot be considered a confirmed specification yet. Tata Motors has not officially announced the final battery capacity, claimed range, and output.
If the company uses a 26kWh pack, it will maintain continuity with the outgoing Tigor EV’s 26kW setup. However, changes to range and real-world performance are possible through battery management, software calibration, and efficiency improvements in the Aeris EV.

Front-Mounted Electric Motor Expected

Regarding the powertrain, a front-mounted electric motor is expected in the Aeris EV. According to available reports, a permanent-magnet synchronous motor may be used.
However, the exact power and torque figures have not yet been officially confirmed. Similarly, the final claimed range has also not been revealed. Therefore, it is not correct to consider specific range or performance numbers circulating on social media as official specifications.
Given the Tata Aeris EV’s expected powertrain, its primary focus could be on urban use and everyday commuting, where its compact dimensions and sedan-style trunk could offer a practical advantage.
Expect Modern Features in the Cabin
The cabin of the petrol/CNG versions of the Aeris has been significantly updated compared to the Tigor. Therefore, the electric version is expected to continue with the modern equipment list.
Reports mention the possibility of features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital driver display, wireless charging, connected-car technology, and a 360-degree camera.
However, confirmation of exactly which features will be standard or optional in the EV-specific variant will only be available after an official announcement from Tata.
December Launch Not Yet Confirmed
Different reports are offering different timelines for the Tata Aeris EV’s launch. Platforms like CarWale and CarTrade list a tentative timeline of December 2026, while other sources suggest the possibility of the end of October. Tata Motors has not yet announced a final launch date.
For this reason, the latest spotted test car can certainly be considered an indication of a close launch, but a December 2026 launch cannot be confirmed.
Aeris EV Positioning
The Aeris EV could be an interesting proposition in the Indian market, as options in the compact electric sedan space are currently quite limited. Tata’s current EV portfolio includes the Tiago EV, while the Aeris EV could be positioned with a larger sedan body and a potentially bigger battery.
Tata Motors has officially launched the petrol and iCNG Aeris at an introductory price of Rs. 5.29 lakh, and the electric version is likely to get a different positioning.
Auto India Daily Verdict
The latest Tata Aeris EV spotted test car indicates that Tata Motors is continuing work on an electric compact sedan. Reports of a 26 kWh battery and a December 2026 launch are interesting, but both details should be treated as expected.
Final battery capacity, range, motor output, price, and launch date will only be confirmed after an official announcement from Tata Motors. For now, the Aeris EV being spotted road testing is a strong indication that Tata’s electric sedan project is active.
