Verstappen Beats Both Ferrari Drivers to Pole

The most important aspect of Verstappen’s pole position was his narrow advantage over both Ferrari drivers. Leclerc’s 1:31.427 lap and Hamilton’s 1:31.496 effort showed that the competition for front-running positions remained very close. The top three were separated by just 0.123 seconds.
Singapore’s Marina Bay Street Circuit is a demanding street track, where qualifying performance is particularly important for the race. Tight corners, driving close to barriers, and limited overtaking opportunities mean a front-row starting position can have a significant impact on race strategy.
Verstappen is in a provisional position to start from pole position in Sunday’s Grand Prix, while Leclerc will be alongside him on the front row. Hamilton is positioned to start the race from third place if there are no changes in the final classification.
Mercedes and McLaren Secure Places in the Top Seven
Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli secured fourth place with a Q3 lap time of 1:31.562. George Russell finished sixth with a lap time of 1:31.747. The gap between the two Mercedes drivers was 0.185 seconds.
Lando Norris finished fifth for McLaren, while Oscar Piastri finished seventh. Norris’ fastest Q3 lap was 1:31.712, and Piastri set a 1:31.860. This means both McLaren drivers are in the top seven but did not secure front-row positions.
Pierre Gasly finished eighth for Alpine, while Liam Lawson finished ninth and Arvid Lindblad tenth. These three drivers were also part of the top 10 participating in the final segment of Q3.
Who Missed Out on Q3?
After qualifying in the Q2 segment, drivers in positions 11 through 16 did not qualify for the final top-10 shootout. Nico Hulkenberg finished 11th, Oliver Biermann 12th, Esteban Ocon 13th, Carlos Sainz 14th, Gabriel Bortoleto 15th, and Franco Colapinto 16th.
Fernando Alonso failed to advance from Q1, finishing in 17th position. Alex Albon finished 18th, Lance Stroll 19th and Sergio Perez 20th. Valtteri Bottas is listed in 21st position, while Isaac Hadjar does not have a lap time or qualifying segment result listed in the timing screenshot supplied opposite.
Auto India Daily Verdict
The F1 Singapore GP Qualifying Results set up an intriguing battle for Sunday’s Singapore Grand Prix, with Max Verstappen on pole and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton securing second and third places. The front row will see Red Bull and Ferrari go head-to-head, while Mercedes and McLaren drivers remain close enough to challenge for the top positions.
A strong qualifying result in Singapore could provide an advantage for the race, but the final outcome will depend on tire strategy, safety-car situations, and track position during the race. Verstappen has the pole advantage, but given Leclerc and Hamilton’s close lap times, Ferrari will have a chance to remain competitive in the race.
Auto India Daily takeaway: Verstappen is on pole, but the gap between the top three is very small. The opening laps and pit-stop strategy could be decisive in Sunday’s race.
