Maserati GT2 Stradale: How different is it from the MC20?

The Maserati GT2 Stradale wouldn’t be considered a simple performance upgrade of the standard MC20. Maserati has given it an aerodynamic package and chassis-related improvements inspired by the GT2 race car. Its dry weight is 1,365kg, which is 60kg less than the MC20.
The engine also produces 10hp more power than the MC20. Furthermore, revised suspension, steering, and braking hardware have also drawn inspiration from the GT2 racing model. Thus, the GT2 Stradale is engineered to deliver track-focused performance along with road usability.
Aggressive Aerodynamics With 500kg Downforce
The biggest difference in the exterior design is its aerodynamic package. The front section features a redesigned bumper, front diffuser, and bonnet, along with vents on the front wheel arches. Their purpose is to release hot air and manage aerodynamic pressure.
The rear section features enlarged air intakes, a diffuser, and a GT2 race car-inspired adjustable wing. According to Maserati, the revised rear air intakes improve cooling air flow to the engine and radiators by 16 percent.
The rear wing has three adjustment settings, through which aerodynamic load can be changed. In high-drag settings, the Maserati GT2 Stradale generates 500 kg of downforce at 280 kph. This includes 130 kg of front and 370 kg of rear downforce. For comparison, the standard MC20 generates 145 kg of downforce at the same speed.

The supercar also features 20-inch single-nut forged wheels derived from the racing model. According to Maserati, these reduce weight by around 19 kg compared to standard wheels. A front-axle lift system is also available, which can raise the car’s front section by 35 mm.

640hp Twin-Turbo V6 Engine and 324kph Top Speed
The Maserati GT2 Stradale is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 Nettuno petrol engine. This engine produces 640hp of power and 720Nm of torque. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
Speaking of performance figures, the GT2 Stradale completes 0-100kph acceleration in 2.8 seconds, while the claimed top speed is 324kph. Its 1,365kg dry weight further supports its performance.
Drivers have access to four driving modes: Wet, GT, Sport, and Corsa. Two optional performance packs are also available for buyers.
The Performance Pack includes Michelin semi-slick tires, an electronic limited-slip differential, and carbon-ceramic brakes. The Performance Pack Plus adds four-point seatbelts, a mounting bracket, and a fire extinguisher.
Both performance packs also come with Corsa Evo mode. It offers four levels of electronic assistance, allowing the driver to adjust the intervention of the car’s electronic systems according to their preference.
Maserati GT2 Stradale Interior: Racing-Inspired Cabin

The basic layout of the cabin is familiar from the MC20, but the Maserati GT2 Stradale features some significant changes. It features a redesigned central tunnel and Alcantara upholstery. Dark finishes have been used to reduce reflections.
The car features a carbon-fiber steering wheel with integrated shift lights and paddle shifters. Carbon-fiber racing seats are available in two different sizes. The MC20’s butterfly doors have also been retained.
Speaking of features, the GT2 Stradale comes with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a central infotainment screen, cameras, parking sensors, and driver assistance systems. Its boot capacity is 100 liters.
Auto India Daily Verdict
Priced at Rs. 5.72 crore, the Maserati GT2 Stradale is a niche performance supercar, focusing not only on straight-line speed but also on aerodynamics, weight reduction, and track-oriented engineering. Compared to the MC20, the extra power, 60kg lower weight and the ability to generate up to 500kg of downforce make it a significantly more focused package.
The limited global production run of 914 units further enhances its exclusivity. For Indian buyers, this supercar will appeal to customers who want genuine racing-car inspiration along with an exclusive road-legal machine.
