JBM ECOLIFE e12 Electric Bus: Lightweight Aluminum Body and Connected Technology
According to JBM, the JBM ECOLIFE e12 features a lightweight monocoque, all-aluminum body structure. The company says the bus is equipped with an Intelligent Transport System (ITS) in accordance with Singapore regulations. Additionally, an advanced telematics system provides drivers and fleet operators with 24×7 access to vehicle health and condition.
Connected technology is crucial for public transport operators, as it can improve vehicle monitoring, fleet management, and maintenance planning. However, JBM has not yet disclosed the ECOLIFE e12’s battery capacity, claimed driving range, motor specifications, charging time, and passenger capacity.
ADAS and Advanced Safety Features Take Center Stage
One of the most important highlights of the JBM ECOLIFE e12 is its Advanced Driver-Assistance System (ADAS) package. According to JBM, this technology helps drivers detect obstacles and identify potential driving errors.

The bus is equipped with features such as a Forward Vehicle Collision Warning System (FVCWS), Lane Departure Warning System, and pedestrian and cyclist collision warning (MOIS). Additionally, a blind-spot detection system is also part of the safety package.
The company also lists drowsiness detection, attention warning, and advanced driver distraction warning features for driver monitoring. The bus’s additional safety equipment includes a Fire Detection and Suppression System (FDSS) and a 360-degree camera. JBM also mentioned security measures to protect the vehicle from cyber-attacks.
These features are relevant in city bus operations, where vehicles must operate amidst pedestrians, cyclists, two-wheelers, and mixed traffic. However, detailed technical information regarding the exact functionality, availability, and operating conditions of these systems has not yet been shared.
