KTM India January 2026 Sales: KTM India has started 2026 on a strong note, reporting total sales of 16,411 units in January, including domestic dispatches and exports. This represents a year-on-year growth of over 143 percent compared to 6,734 units in January 2025.
The performance reflects a combination of pricing changes, product strategy and shifting demand patterns in India’s premium motorcycle segment.

Domestic Momentum Builds
Out of the total volume, KTM India January 2026 Sales accounted for 9,568 units (domestic), up from 6,128 units in the same month last year. This translates to a 56.14 percent year-on-year increase. Month-on-month growth was even stronger at over 70 percent, compared to 5,623 units in December 2025.
The sharp rise indicates improved retail traction at the start of the calendar year, supported by better affordability in key segments and sustained interest in performance-oriented motorcycles.
Sub-350cc Models Lead Demand

One of the key drivers behind the growth has been the improved price positioning of KTM motorcycles with engine capacities below 350cc. Changes linked to GST 2.0 reduced the tax burden on these models, making them more accessible to a wider audience.
This shift has significantly strengthened demand for the brand’s core volume contributors — the 200cc and 250cc ranges.
KTM India January 2026 Sales (January 2026 vs January 2025)
| Model Range | Jan 2026 | Jan 2025 | YoY Growth |
|---|---|---|---|
| KTM 200 (Duke/RC) | 4,251 | 2,271 | +87% |
| KTM 250 (Duke/Adv) | 4,163 | 3,478 | +20% |
| KTM 390 Range | 1,154 | 362 | +218% |
| KTM 125 | 0 | 17 | Discontinued |
| Total | 9,568 | 6,128 | +56% |
The 200cc portfolio emerged as the highest-selling category, contributing nearly half of the domestic volumes. The 250cc range also maintained steady growth, reinforcing KTM’s strong positioning in the mid-capacity segment.
Premium Segment Shows Resilience
Interestingly, the 390 range recorded the highest percentage growth at over 218 percent year-on-year, despite becoming more expensive after GST revisions in September 2025.
This suggests that demand for higher-performance motorcycles remains healthy among enthusiasts. The 390 family now includes multiple variants such as the 390 Adventure, Adventure X, Adventure R and Enduro R, all manufactured locally by Bajaj Auto at its Chakan facility.
For the Indian market, this indicates a maturing premium motorcycle audience willing to absorb higher prices for performance and brand value.
Portfolio Restructuring Underway
KTM’s product strategy has also evolved over the past year. Entry-level models such as the Duke 125 and RC 125 were discontinued in April 2025 due to weak demand. These have been replaced by new entry offerings positioned higher up the performance ladder.
The move reflects a shift away from entry-price positioning toward a more performance-focused identity, aligning with KTM’s global brand strategy.

Exports Continue to Support Volumes
Exports remain an important contributor to KTM’s overall numbers, helping the brand achieve total sales above 16,000 units. India continues to serve as a key manufacturing hub for KTM’s global operations, especially for small and mid-capacity motorcycles.
This dual domestic-export model helps stabilise volumes even when local demand fluctuates.
What This Means for the Market
KTM’s strong start to 2026 highlights several broader trends in the Indian two-wheeler market:
- Price sensitivity remains high, especially around tax-linked thresholds.
- The 200–300cc segment continues to be the volume sweet spot.
- Demand for premium performance motorcycles is growing steadily.
- Local manufacturing is enabling competitive pricing and export growth.
For buyers, the improved affordability of sub-350cc models means better access to performance motorcycles without a significant price jump.
Outlook- KTM India January 2026 Sales
KTM India January 2026 Sales performance reflects the benefits of strategic pricing, a focused product lineup and strong localisation. If tax advantages for sub-350cc motorcycles continue and demand in the mid-capacity segment remains robust, the brand is likely to sustain its growth momentum through 2026.
At the same time, rising competition in the performance category means maintaining value and product freshness will remain critical in the months ahead.
