Why is this award important for VinFast India?

This award for VinFast India comes at a time when the company is focusing on expanding its product range and customer reach in the Indian market. The company’s approach is not limited to just introducing electric vehicles; it also includes developing manufacturing, dealerships, after-sales support, financing, and a charging ecosystem.

Tapan Ghosh, CEO of VinFast Asia, said on behalf of the company that this recognition acknowledges its long-term strategy to develop a strong foundation for electric mobility in India. According to the company, its focus is on simultaneously developing locally manufactured products, retail and service networks, financing options, charging support, and customer-focused ownership solutions.

The award can be seen as recognition of the company’s overall business approach. However, this does not mean that VinFast has won every EV category; HT Auto has announced separate winners for different categories.

VinFast India’s current electric vehicle lineup

VinFast India currently offers electric vehicles such as the VF 6, VF 7, and VF MPV 7. The VF 6 and VF 7 are electric SUVs, while the VF MPV 7 represents the company’s entry into the electric MPV category.

According to a company press release, these vehicles are being locally assembled in India. VinFast has established its manufacturing presence in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, which the company considers an important part of its long-term plans for the Indian market.

The VF MPV 7 was introduced in April 2026. According to the company, this was its third product introduction in India within a year. Through this expansion, VinFast is attempting to increase its presence in various segments of passenger electric vehicles.

Focus on Dealership Network and Ownership Experience

Competition in the electric vehicle market isn’t limited to product range and driving range alone. Charging access, service availability, financing, and long-term ownership experience also influence buyer decisions.

VinFast India says it is expanding its retail and after-sales network. The company stated it will reach its 60th 3S dealership in August 2026 and aims to establish 75 dealerships in India by the end of 2026. This is the company’s stated target; the final network size will need to be confirmed separately.

VinFast is also working on initiatives such as assured resale, buyback programs, and after-sales support. The objective of these measures is to make EV ownership more accessible and predictable for customers. The actual impact of these initiatives, however, will only be assessed through customer experience and market performance.

Competition is Increasing in the Indian EV Market

India’s electric passenger vehicle market is becoming increasingly competitive between established automakers and new EV-focused brands. Manufacturers are having to address factors such as product pricing, range, charging infrastructure, service network, and customer trust.

For VinFast, long-term success will not be measured solely by awards or product launches. Scaling local manufacturing, effectively operating a dealership network, and providing consistent after-sales support to customers will be equally important.

This honor at the HT Auto Leaderboard Awards 2026 gives the company industry recognition. Going forward, its progress in the Indian market will be measured by sales performance, customer response, and the growth of its ownership ecosystem.

Auto India Daily Verdict

Winning VinFast India’s EV Manufacturer of the Year award is a positive industry milestone for the company. The brand is implementing a strategy to expand manufacturing, retail, and ownership support alongside its electric SUV and MPV lineup.

The most important challenge now will be to translate this strategy into a consistent customer experience and sustainable business growth. Long-term success in the Indian EV market will require a focus on product launches, as well as reliable service, charging access, and competitive ownership costs.
