Triumph 350cc Bikes: Bajaj Auto has confirmed that new Triumph motorcycles with engines below 350cc will be introduced in India in April 2026. The announcement was made by Bajaj Auto Managing Director and CEO Rajiv Bajaj during a recent interaction, signalling the next phase of the Bajaj–Triumph partnership in the entry-premium segment.

The upcoming Triumph 350cc Bikes will be positioned below the existing 400cc Triumph lineup and are expected to target a wider audience with more accessible pricing.

Lower Displacement To Enable Competitive Pricing

One of the key reasons for developing the new motorcycles is taxation. Triumph’s current small-capacity models, powered by a 399cc engine, fall into a higher tax bracket and attract 40 percent GST.

By reducing the engine capacity to below 350cc, the new motorcycles will qualify for the 18 percent GST slab, allowing Bajaj and Triumph to price them more competitively in the market. This move is expected to strengthen the brand’s position against rivals in the high-volume mid-capacity segment.

For Indian buyers, this could translate into a more affordable entry point into the Triumph brand without a major compromise on performance or features.

Engine To Be Derived From Existing 400cc Platform

The new powertrain will not be developed from scratch. Instead, it will be a downsized version of the current 399cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine used in models such as the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X.

The reduction in displacement is expected to be achieved through a smaller bore, bringing the engine capacity just under the 350cc threshold. While official specifications are yet to be revealed, industry estimates suggest a drop of around 3–5hp compared to the existing 400cc unit, which currently produces about 40hp and 37.5Nm.

Despite the slight reduction in output, the core engine architecture and character are expected to remain largely similar.

Strategy May Extend To KTM And Bajaj Models

Bajaj Auto is also evaluating a similar downsizing strategy for other motorcycles within its portfolio. Reports indicate that the KTM 390 range and Bajaj’s own 400cc models, such as the Dominar 400 and NS400Z, could eventually follow the sub-350cc approach.

However, no official timeline has been confirmed for these potential updates.

Triumph 350cc Bikes India Launch Confirmed For April 2026

The introduction of Triumph 350cc Bikes comes at a time when the 250–350cc segment continues to see strong demand in India, driven by buyers looking for premium styling and performance at relatively accessible price points.

With lower taxation and local manufacturing advantages, the upcoming models could help Triumph expand its reach beyond niche enthusiasts and compete more directly with established players in the segment.

Conclusion

Bajaj Auto’s confirmation of Triumph 350cc Bikes for April 2026 reflects a strategic move to improve pricing competitiveness through tax benefits.

By adapting its existing 400cc platform to fit the lower GST bracket, the brand aims to broaden its customer base in India’s growing mid-capacity motorcycle market while maintaining the core appeal of the Triumph lineup.
