Maruti Suzuki has officially launched the 2026 Baleno facelift in India, giving its premium hatchback a major technology and feature upgrade.
The new Baleno has been introduced at a starting price of Rs 6.09 lakh, ex-showroom, with the introductory price announced for the festive period. Along with a refreshed design, the facelift brings a new 1.2-litre Z-Series petrol engine, Level 2 ADAS, ventilated front seats and several new convenience features.

The 2026 Maruti Baleno Facelift is not a complete-generation change, but the update is considerably more than a cosmetic refresh. Maruti Suzuki has focused on improving the hatchback’s safety technology, cabin experience and powertrain while retaining the familiar proportions that have made the Baleno popular in the premium hatchback segment.

2026 Maruti Baleno Facelift Price
The new Baleno starts at Rs 6.09 lakh ex-showroom for the entry-level version. Maruti Suzuki has described this as introductory festive pricing, while bookings for the updated hatchback have also opened.
The Baleno continues to sit in the premium hatchback space alongside the Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz and Toyota Glanza. With the facelift, however, Maruti Suzuki is clearly trying to make the Baleno stand out through additional technology and convenience features rather than relying only on its existing strengths.
Maruti Baleno Facelift: New 1.2-Litre Z-Series Engine
One of the biggest changes on the 2026 Baleno is under the bonnet.
The facelift replaces the outgoing 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with Maruti Suzuki’s newer 1.2-litre, three-cylinder Z-Series naturally aspirated petrol engine. This is the same engine family that is already used in models such as the Swift and Dzire.
In the Baleno, the petrol engine produces 83 PS and 112 Nm. Buyers can choose between a 5-speed manual transmission and a 5-speed AMT, giving the premium hatchback both conventional and automatic options.
The move to the Z-Series engine is significant because Maruti has chosen to focus on efficiency and everyday usability rather than adding a turbocharged motor. For Baleno buyers who primarily drive in the city, the availability of an AMT should also make the new powertrain more convenient.
Maruti Baleno Facelift Gets CNG-AMT
Another major addition is the availability of a factory-fitted CNG option with an AMT gearbox.
The CNG version produces 70 PS and 102 Nm, and it can now be paired with both a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT. This makes the facelift particularly interesting for buyers looking for the running-cost benefits of CNG without giving up the convenience of an automatic transmission.
The CNG-AMT combination is one of the more notable changes introduced with this facelift and could help Maruti attract urban buyers who have traditionally preferred automatic cars.
Maruti Baleno Facelift Gets Level 2 ADAS
The biggest technology upgrade is the addition of a Level 2 ADAS suite.
The system uses a combination of radar and camera hardware and brings several driver-assistance functions to the Baleno. These include Adaptive Cruise Control, Advanced Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Departure Prevention, High Beam Assist and Forward Collision Warning.
This is arguably the most important change to the Baleno’s safety package because advanced driver assistance technology has traditionally been more common in larger and more expensive cars.
The updated Baleno also gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Program, Hill Hold Control, reverse parking sensors and TPMS.
New Maruti Baleno Facelift Exterior Design
Visually, Maruti Suzuki has retained the basic silhouette of the Baleno, but the front-end receives noticeable changes.
The biggest highlight is the new NEXWave grille, which is wider and features a more prominent pattern with horizontal chrome elements. The grille also houses the radar hardware required for the ADAS system.
The front bumper has been redesigned, while the lower grille and surrounding elements have also been revised. The facelift additionally gets a new chrome accent on the front fender and a shark-fin antenna.
The LED headlamp and DRL treatment continues to retain the Baleno’s familiar identity, while new alloy wheel designs help freshen up the side profile.
Maruti Suzuki is also offering a new Enigmatic Teal exterior colour. The new shade joins the existing colour choices and gives the facelift a more distinctive appearance.
Ventilated Seats And New Cabin Features
Inside, the overall dashboard layout remains familiar, but Maruti Suzuki has added several features to make the cabin feel more premium.
The biggest addition is ventilated front seats, which Maruti Suzuki describes as a first-in-segment feature. The seats also get plush leatherette upholstery on the updated model.
Another major upgrade is the premium Clarion sound system, aimed at improving the audio experience for occupants.
The new Baleno also gets a Qi-certified wireless smartphone charger with active cooling. The cooling function should help reduce heat buildup during longer charging sessions, especially when the phone is being used for navigation at the same time.
The updated cabin continues with the Baleno’s familiar premium-hatchback layout, while features such as the heads-up display and existing convenience equipment continue to be part of the package.
