Genesis has unveiled its new flagship electric SUV, the GV90. This is Hyundai Motor Group’s luxury brand Genesis’s largest and most premium electric SUV to date.
The company has given it a futuristic design, a highly premium cabin, and a 657hp dual-motor powertrain.

Genesis is expected to enter the Indian market around 2027. Models like the GV80 may initially arrive in India, while the larger and more luxurious Genesis GV90 is expected to launch later. According to current information, its India launch could take place around 2028.

Genesis GV90 becomes the company’s new flagship SUV
The Genesis GV90 is positioned at the top of the company’s lineup. It is a full-size electric SUV that will be positioned among premium electric SUVs. It is expected to compete with models like the Range Rover Electric and Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV.
The SUV measures 5,285mm in length, 2,030mm in width, and 1,825mm in height. Its wheelbase is 3,245mm, which is expected to provide ample space inside the cabin, especially in the second and third rows.
The Genesis GV90 will be offered in a Neolun version along with the standard version. The Neolun version’s design is inspired by the Genesis GV90 Neolun concept and features some unique design elements.
A strikingly different design with Coach Doors
The GV90 Neolun’s most distinctive design element is its coach door setup. The B-pillar is hidden, and the front and rear doors open differently. This gives the SUV a premium and concept-like appearance.
The SUV also features Wing Face Micro Lens Array headlamps, a clamshell bonnet, and flush-mounted taillamps. The Neolun version also comes with 24-inch forged alloy wheels.
Genesis has kept the exterior quite clean. Tight shutlines and flush design elements give the GV90 a futuristic look that’s distinct from traditional large SUVs.
180-Degree Swivel Seats and OLED Screen
The cabin of the Genesis GV90 is one of its biggest highlights. The company has tried to give it a luxury lounge-like feel rather than a traditional SUV cabin.
It features a pop-up OLED central touchscreen that can be raised up to 90mm when parking. The screen size can be expanded from 23.6 inches to 24.6 inches.
The front seats can be rotated 180 degrees. This creates a more lounge-like atmosphere between the front and rear passengers when the vehicle is stationary.
For safety, the GV90 is equipped with 12 airbags. According to Genesis, this includes the world’s first roof airbag.

The Genesis GV90 will run without a Start Button
Genesis has also removed the traditional start button from the GV90. It features a new Power Control System. The car can automatically power on and the door can automatically close when the driver pulls the door handle.
It also features a steering-mounted Motion Column Shifter, which moves from the 12 o’clock position to the 2 o’clock position.
The center console features a Crystal Sphere Controller. It rotates to reveal infotainment controls. All these features are part of Genesis’s Pleos Connect cockpit.
657 hp Dual-Motor Electric Powertrain
The Genesis GV90 features a dual-motor electric powertrain. Its rear motor produces 335 hp and 450 Nm, while the front motor produces 322 hp and 350 Nm.
Together, the two motors produce a total of 657 hp and 800 Nm of torque. This is a significant power output for such a large SUV and helps make it Genesis’ performance-focused flagship EV.
The SUV features a large 123.5 kWh battery. According to the company, charging from 10 to 80 percent takes approximately 22 minutes.
Genesis expects the GV90 to have a driving range of approximately 500 km in South Korea.
Rear-Wheel Steering and Air Suspension
Genesis has also redesigned the GV90’s chassis along with its electric powertrain. The SUV features systems like rear-wheel steering, multi-chamber air suspension, and dual e-LSDs.
Rear-wheel steering can help the large SUV maneuver in tight spaces and provide better stability at high speeds. Multi-chamber air suspension has been designed to improve ride quality.
Genesis GV90 India Launch: SUV May Arrive in 2028
Genesis is expected to enter India around 2027. Initially, the company may attempt to establish its presence in the Indian luxury car market with models like the GV80.
Following this, Genesis may bring its premium electric SUV, the GV90, to India. While no official India launch date has been revealed, available information suggests it could arrive in the Indian market around 2028.
If Genesis brings it to India as a CBU, it could command a significant premium. However, details regarding the company’s Indian strategy and local assembly are currently unknown.

The Genesis GV90 isn’t just a large electric SUV, but rather the flagship model of Genesis’s technology and luxury ambitions. Features like a 657hp dual-motor setup, a 123.5kWh battery, a claimed range of nearly 500km, and a 10-80 percent charge in 22 minutes place it squarely in the high-end electric SUV segment.
