Maruti Suzuki has added the option of an AMT gearbox to the 2026 Baleno’s CNG lineup. The Maruti Baleno CNG-AMT has a starting price of Rs. 8.32 lakh (ex-showroom).
With this, the Baleno now joins the latest Maruti cars to offer an automatic transmission with a CNG powertrain.

The new CNG-AMT setup is available in the Delta and Zeta trims. It is powered by the same 1.2-litre, three-cylinder Z12E engine that produces 70hp and 102Nm in CNG mode. Most interestingly, the CNG-AMT’s claimed mileage is 34.47km/kg, which is higher than the 33.61km/kg figure of the CNG-manual.

Maruti Baleno CNG-AMT Price and Variants
Maruti has positioned the CNG-AMT alongside the existing CNG variants. Starting prices are ₹8.32 lakh, while the higher-spec Zeta CNG-AMT variant is expected to be priced around Rs. 9.32 lakh.

The existing 2026 Baleno is available with a CNG-manual setup in the Delta and Zeta trims. With the CNG-AMT added, buyers also get the option of two-pedal driving with factory-fitted CNG.
1.2-Liter Z12E Engine with 5-Speed AMT
The Maruti Baleno CNG-AMT is powered by a 1.2-liter Z12E three-cylinder naturally aspirated engine. In CNG mode, this engine produces 70 hp and 102 Nm.
Transmission options are paired with a 5-speed AMT. The petrol version also offers the same Z12E engine with 5-speed manual and AMT options.

The claimed fuel efficiency figure of CNG-AMT is 34.47km/kg. This is around 0.86km/kg higher than the existing CNG-manual Baleno’s 33.61km/kg figure.

CNG Tank in Boot, Spare Wheel Also Available
Maruti has not moved the CNG tank to the underbody in the Maruti Baleno CNG-AMT. The tank is placed inside the boot, and the spare wheel is also provided in the boot area.
This layout significantly limits luggage carrying space. This setup is similar to the existing Baleno CNG configuration.
Maruti recently introduced an underbody CNG tank layout in the Victorias, but the company has continued the conventional boot-mounted tank arrangement in the Baleno CNG-AMT.
Baleno CNG-AMT Gets Automatic Convenience
The option of automatic transmission in CNG cars is still limited. In the case of the Baleno, the addition of an AMT gearbox is relevant for buyers who want clutchless driving along with the running-cost advantage of CNG.
With the Maruti Baleno CNG-AMT setup, Maruti Suzuki has also expanded its CNG automatic lineup. According to current reports, the Swift and Dzire have also received CNG-AMT configurations.

Apart from the powertrain, the CNG-AMT continues the existing design and feature package of the Baleno facelift. The 2026 Baleno gets a revised front grille, updated bumper, a new 1.2-liter Z12E engine, and additional safety and convenience features.
Higher variants offer a 9-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone connectivity, a wireless charger, a rear-view camera, connected-car features, and other premium equipment. The top-spec Alpha (O) petrol-AMT also offers Level 2 ADAS.
