Renault Duster Strong Hybrid Price and Variants
The Renault Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 is offered in India in three variants – Evolution, Techno, and Emotion. Its introductory ex-showroom price starts at Rs. 16.99 lakh, while the top-spec Emotion variant is priced at Rs. 19.49 lakh.
| Variant | Ex-showroom Price |
|---|---|
| Evolution | Rs. 16.99 lakh |
| Techno | Rs. 18.99 lakh |
| Emotion | Rs. 19.49 lakh |
There is an important point for buyers here. These introductory prices from Renault are applicable on vehicles delivered by December 31, 2026. This means that not only booking, but also taking delivery by the specified deadline will be important.
Renault R-Pass customers are being offered the benefit of priority allocation, while regular bookings are available with a booking amount of Rs. 21,000.
1.8-Litre Strong Hybrid Powertrain: How Does It Work?

The most important highlight of the Duster Strong Hybrid is its E-Tech 160 hybrid system. This powertrain combines a 1.8-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine with two electric motors and a 1.4kWh lithium-ion battery.
Combined system output is 160PS, while the electric traction motor develops 208Nm of torque. Power delivery is managed by a multimode automatic transmission. According to Renault’s claimed figures, the SUV can complete 0-100kmph acceleration in 9.6 seconds.
What differentiates this system from conventional petrol SUVs is its self-charging setup. There is no need for an external charging point to charge the battery. Electricity is stored in the battery through regenerative braking and the petrol engine.
During city driving, the electric motor can propel the SUV, reducing dependence on the petrol engine under suitable conditions. Renault claims that under appropriate driving conditions, electric propulsion can handle up to 80 percent of city driving time. This is the company’s stated figure; actual usage may vary depending on traffic, driving style, and road conditions.

29kmpl Mileage and 1,400km Claimed Driving Range

Fuel efficiency is a major selling point of this hybrid SUV. According to Renault, the Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 delivers an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 29kmpl. The company also mentions a claimed driving range of over 1,400km, under specified conditions.
A practical benefit for Indian buyers is the potential to reduce petrol consumption in city traffic. The hybrid system recovers energy during braking and assists in low-speed driving through the electric motor. However, real-world mileage will depend on driving conditions, traffic density, and vehicle usage.
Another important difference is that the Duster Strong Hybrid doesn’t need to be charged like a plug-in hybrid. Buyers won’t have to rely on home charging installation or public charging stations.
Design and Features: What Does the Duster Strong Hybrid Offer?

The exterior design maintains the Duster’s familiar rugged SUV character, but some exclusive details are also provided to identify the hybrid version. These include an illuminated Duster emblem on the grille, E-Tech badges, LED headlamps, and a horizontal LED light bar at the rear.
The SUV’s 212mm ground clearance and 18-inch wheels highlight its SUV-focused stance. Cabin equipment varies depending on the variant. Selected variants get features like a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, and dual-zone climate control.
Safety-wise, six airbags are standard. Rest of the equipment and features vary depending on the selected trim.
Renault Is Also Modernizing Its Dealership Network
Along with commencing deliveries of the Duster Strong Hybrid, Renault India is also upgrading its retail network. The company aims to convert its 73 showrooms in 24 key cities to the new retail format by July 2027.
These 24 cities contribute approximately 50 percent of Renault India’s total sales. According to the company, 30 outlets have received the revised showroom treatment so far.
Renault has approximately 638 sales and service touchpoints nationwide. This network also includes over 200 Workshop on Wheels locations, whose objective is to provide service support to customers.
Hyderabad’s new Hitec City showroom spans 7,000 square feet and can display eight cars at a time. It is Renault’s largest showroom in the city. This dealership is operated by the VVC Group, which now manages three Renault showrooms and two workshops in Hyderabad.
Rivals: Maruti Grand Vitara, Victoris, and Toyota Hyryder
In the Indian market, the Renault Duster Strong Hybrid competes with the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, and strong-hybrid versions of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
Mileage, cabin features, ownership cost, and after-sales support will be important factors for buyers in this segment. The Duster’s 1.8-liter E-Tech powertrain, 29 km/h claimed mileage, and SUV-focused design make it a distinct option among the competition.
However, the challenge for Renault won’t be limited to the product itself. Dealership access, service experience, and long-term ownership confidence will also play important roles against established alternatives in the hybrid SUV segment.
Auto India Daily Verdict
The start of customer deliveries of the Renault Duster Strong Hybrid is a key step in the company’s India comeback strategy. Following its October introduction, the first handover was completed on November 6, and buyers have now begun receiving actual retail availability of the SUV.
An introductory starting price of Rs. 16.99 lakh, 160PS combined output, and 29 km/h claimed mileage make this hybrid SUV an interesting proposition. The absence of external charging is also useful for buyers who want the benefits of electric driving but don’t want to rely on charging infrastructure.
It remains to be seen how real-world fuel efficiency, customer feedback and Renault’s upgraded dealership network make the Duster Strong Hybrid competitive against established hybrid SUVs.
