India’s most affordable MPV, the Renault Triber, is soon to receive a major mechanical upgrade.
Currently, the Triber is available with a 1.0-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, starting at Rs. 5.81 lakh (ex-showroom). However, Renault is preparing to introduce a Renault Triber Turbo-petrol version in September.

Design: The 2025 Facelift Look Will Remain
No major changes are expected to the exterior design of the upcoming turbo-petrol Triber. It is likely to largely continue the styling that was introduced with the 2025 facelift.
The current Triber features a sharper front end, a black grille with angular slats, a tall bonnet, LED headlamps, and LED taillamps. Renault could add Turbo badging or some subtle sporty elements to visually distinguish the Turbo version.
The variant names introduced with the 2025 facelift are also likely to be carried over to the Turbo version.
Renault Triber Turbo: Interior and Features
The cabin layout is also expected to remain largely similar to the facelifted Triber. Renault may differentiate the turbo variant with some minor sporty touches or badging, but the overall dashboard and equipment list are unlikely to see major changes.
The current Triber comes with features like an 8-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic climate control. Automatic climate control was added during the April 2026 update.
The Triber Turbo is also expected to receive the same safety package as the current model. Features like six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, and a tire pressure monitoring system are standard safety equipment on the Triber.
New RGEP Platform
An important change for the upcoming turbo version relates to the platform. Renault is gradually shifting the Triber from the older CMF-A+ architecture to the new Renault Group Entry Platform (RGEP).
RGEP is a new architecture with a higher level of localization. This platform is considered more suitable for accommodating turbocharged powertrains without dramatically changing the MPV’s existing practical package.

Biggest Upgrade: 100PS Turbo Engine
The biggest highlight of the Renault Triber Turbo will be its engine.
Renault may use the 1.0-liter, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine in this MPV, which is also offered in the Kiger. Expected output from this engine is 100PS and 160Nm.
This would be a significant upgrade compared to the current naturally aspirated Triber. The existing engine produces around 72hp and 96Nm, and the power limitation can be felt when driving the seven-seater MPV under full load, especially during overtaking and uphill sections.
The turbo engine’s additional torque can make the Triber more relaxed under loaded conditions. With 160Nm of torque, a noticeable improvement in acceleration and highway drivability is also expected.
Transmission: Initially Manual Only
The Renault Triber Turbo may be offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox at launch. The possibility of an automatic transmission being available initially is slim.
The Kiger already has an X-Tronic CVT option available with this turbo engine, so if there is strong demand for an automatic transmission for the Triber Turbo in the future, Renault may introduce a CVT option.
The engine’s torque output in the Kiger’s automatic version is limited to 152 Nm, so a similar setup could be seen in the Triber Turbo automatic.
Launch Date and Expected Price
Renault India is preparing to launch the Triber Turbo in September 2026. The company has not yet announced an exact launch date, but an introduction is expected before the festive season.
The current naturally aspirated Triber is priced between ₹ 5.81 lakh and ₹ 8.69 lakh (ex-showroom). The turbo-petrol version will naturally come at a premium over the existing variants.
However, Renault is focused on keeping the Triber a value-for-money product. Therefore, the company may aggressively position the pricing of the turbo variant.
Auto India Daily Verdict
The Renault Triber Turbo could be an interesting upgrade in the Indian MPV segment. One of the current Triber’s biggest limitations is its relatively weak naturally aspirated engine, and the 100PS/160Nm turbo-petrol setup could address this issue to a large extent.
If Renault offers this engine at competitive pricing, the Renault Triber Turbo could become a strong option for buyers who want 7-seater practicality, better performance, and affordable ownership all in one package.
A September launch and competitive pricing will be the most important factors for the success of this upcoming turbo-petrol MPV.
