New Gearbox and Improved Efficiency

One of the key updates is the introduction of a new 8-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox for the 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine, replacing the earlier 6-speed automatic unit. The engine continues to produce 115hp and is also available with a 6-speed manual transmission.

The 1.5-litre TSI engine (150hp) continues with a 7-speed DSG gearbox, but now benefits from rear disc brakes as standard.

Skoda claims improved fuel efficiency across the range. The new 1.0-litre automatic now delivers 19.09 kmpl, up from 15.78 kmpl earlier, while the manual version offers 19.66 kmpl. The 1.5 DSG variant also sees a marginal improvement to 18.72 kmpl.

Skoda Kushaq Facelift: Design Updates and Exterior Changes

The facelift introduces Skoda’s latest Modern Solid design language. At the front, the SUV features slimmer LED headlamps with DRLs connected by a light bar integrated into the grille.

The rear gets a full-width LED light bar with illuminated ‘Skoda’ lettering, along with sequential turn indicators. New alloy wheel designs (16-inch and 17-inch) have also been introduced.

Additionally, Skoda has added three new colour options: Cherry Red, Shimla Green, and Steel Grey.

Inside, the Skoda Kushaq Facelift retains its overall layout but adds several new features. It now gets a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with updated software.

A notable addition is the panoramic sunroof, while lower variants come with a single-pane unit. The SUV also introduces a rear-seat massage function, which is currently not offered by most rivals in this segment.

Other features include:

  • Dual-zone ambient lighting
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Ventilated front seats
  • Wireless charging
  • Six-speaker audio system
  • Google Gemini AI integration for infotainment

The SUV also uses a variable-displacement AC compressor, which is expected to improve cooling efficiency.

Skoda Kushaq Facelift: Safety and Practicality

The Kushaq facelift continues to offer a comprehensive safety package, including:

  • Six airbags
  • ABS with EBD
  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
  • Hill-hold assist
  • ISOFIX mounts

It also retains the 5-star Global NCAP safety rating from the previous model.

Boot space is now listed at 491 litres, although the measurement method has changed to include space up to the roof.

What It Means for Buyers

With the facelift, Skoda has focused on improving value, efficiency, and feature appeal. The addition of an 8-speed automatic gearbox for the 1.0-litre engine and the inclusion of more features at lower trims may make the Kushaq more competitive against rivals.

At the same time, the price increase may influence buyer decisions, especially in a segment where multiple options are closely priced.

Conclusion

The launch of the Skoda Kushaq facelift brings incremental updates rather than a complete overhaul. With refreshed styling, improved fuel efficiency, and additional features, the SUV aims to stay relevant in a highly competitive segment.

While the updates enhance the overall package, the Kushaq will continue to compete closely with established rivals, making pricing, features, and brand preference key factors for buyers in this segment.
