Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder Spied: Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has begun road testing a three-row version of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, indicating that a 7-seat SUV based on the existing model is under development. The new vehicle, expected to arrive in late 2026, is aimed at family buyers looking for a more practical alternative within the mid-size SUV segment.
The upcoming model is likely to compete directly with the Hyundai Alcazar and other three-row derivatives of compact and mid-size SUVs.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder Spied- Development Strategy Shift
The new project follows a change in Toyota’s earlier product plan. The company had initially considered launching a three-row version of the international Corolla Cross under the internal codename ‘Toyota 340 D’, but the programme was discontinued in 2024 due to commercial concerns.
Instead, Toyota is now working on a cost-focused three-row SUV derived from the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, allowing it to leverage an existing platform and powertrain lineup.
Exterior Changes Focused at the Rear

Spy images suggest that the 7-seat Hyryder will retain most of the design elements of the current five-seat model. The front fascia is expected to remain unchanged, featuring split headlamps, a familiar grille design, and body cladding.
To accommodate the additional seating, Toyota appears to have extended the rear overhang, while the wheelbase is likely to remain the same. This packaging approach is similar to other three-row adaptations in the segment.
However, the addition of a third row is expected to reduce boot capacity, which currently goes up to 373 litres in the standard Hyryder depending on the variant.
Expected Features and Safety
The third row is likely to offer practical amenities such as USB Type-C charging ports, cupholders, and dedicated AC vents.
Other expected features include:
- Panoramic sunroof
- Power tailgate with gesture control
- Head-up display
- Ventilated front seats with power adjustment
- 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster
- 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system
- Wireless phone charging
On the safety front, Toyota may equip the SUV with six airbags, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
Powertrain Options to Carry Over

The three-row model is expected to retain the Hyryder’s existing electrified powertrains:
| Variant | Powertrain | Transmission |
|---|---|---|
| Mild Hybrid | 1.5L petrol (102 hp) | 5MT / 6AT |
| Strong Hybrid | 1.5L petrol + electric motor | e-CVT |
An all-wheel-drive (AWD) system was observed on the test vehicle and is likely to be offered with the mild-hybrid automatic variant.
What It Means for Buyers
The introduction of a 7-seat Hyryder will expand Toyota’s presence in the growing three-row SUV segment, offering hybrid technology in a space currently dominated by conventional petrol and diesel models.
A similar three-row version of the Maruti Grand Vitara is also expected around the same timeframe, suggesting a broader product strategy from the Toyota–Suzuki alliance.
The three-row Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder Spied remains under testing, with further details on specifications and pricing expected closer to its anticipated 2026 launch timeline.
