Hyundai has added another important chapter to its global strategy regarding electric mobility. The company has showcased the Hyundai Neira Electric MPV for the Indonesian market to the public for the first time.
Currently, it has been presented in prototype form, but looking at its overall design and body detailing, it seems that the production version will not be much different from this. The company aims to launch it in the market by the end of 2026.

This is not just a new electric vehicle for Hyundai. This will be the brand’s first dedicated electric MPV for the Indonesian market, which will be targeted at both family buyers and commercial users.
Interestingly, according to industry reports, the mechanical underpinnings of this MPV may be linked to the Kia Carens Clavis EV, leading to speculation about its powertrain and battery specifications.

A Distinct Identity from Traditional MPVs with SUV-Like Styling
Electric MPVs are typically seen as simple family vehicles, but Hyundai has attempted to take the Hyundai Neira Electric MPV’s design a bit differently. At first glance, the prototype appears to be a crossover-inspired family vehicle, not a conventional van-style MPV.
Hyundai’s latest design language is clearly visible on the front profile. The full-width LED light bar is its biggest visual highlight.
Below it are vertically stacked headlamp units, while the upper section receives the closed-off treatment that has become a hallmark of electric vehicles. Silver-finished bumper inserts and an upright front stance also give this MPV road presence.
Exterior Designed with Cabin Space in Mind
The Hyundai Neira Electric MPV’s true purpose is evident from its side profile. The long roofline and large glass area indicate an airy cabin for passengers.
Thick black cladding on the wheel arches and silver roof rails give it an SUV-inspired look, while the aerodynamic alloy wheels appear to have been designed with EV efficiency in mind.
The prototype also features Hankook’s specially developed EV tyres. These tires help reduce rolling resistance and improve driving range. Details like these indicate that Hyundai may maintain a strong focus on efficiency in the production model.
The rear section continues the modern styling of the front. Vertical LED tail lamps extend to the rear quarter panel, and a slim light strip connects them.
The clean design of the tailgate, roof spoiler, and silver skid plate treatment on the bumper give this MPV a premium appearance. Integrated parking sensors are also visible in the rear bumper, indicating an advanced safety package in the production version.
There could be a deeper connection to the Kia Carens Clavis EV
Hyundai has not yet officially revealed the technical specifications of the Neira. However, industry speculation suggests its architecture will be very close to that of the Kia Carens Clavis EV.
Both brands are part of the same group, and several global products have already been developed on shared platforms.
If Hyundai uses this platform, buyers could expect a familiar package in terms of battery, charging, and performance. This approach has the advantage of quickly introducing proven technology to the market with a new body style.
What can be expected regarding battery and range?
The company has not shared official battery details, but considering the platform similarities, expected specifications are being estimated.
The Kia Carens Clavis EV available in India comes with two battery pack options. The smaller battery pack with a 42 kWh capacity offers a claimed driving range of approximately 404 km, while the larger 51.4 kWh battery pack provides a claimed range of up to 490 km.
Power output may also vary depending on the variant. According to reports, the entry version can develop approximately 135 hp and the higher variant can develop up to 171 hp. Peak torque is expected to be around 255 Nm.
Fast charging capability could also be an important part of this package. If Hyundai continues with this setup, charging the battery from 10 to 80 percent with a 100 kW DC fast charger could take approximately 39 minutes.

Expected Dimensions and Practicality
The Hyundai Neira Electric MPV clearly focuses on family usability. Reports suggest the production model could measure approximately 4,550 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and have a wheelbase of 2,780 mm.
These dimensions appear to be quite balanced, considering third-row space and cabin practicality. For this reason, the Neira is being seen not only as an urban family vehicle, but also as an option in the fleet and premium commercial mobility segments.
Can it enter India too?
Currently, Hyundai has previewed the Neira for the Indonesian market and has not made any official statement regarding an India launch.
However, this Hyundai Neira Electric MPV is being mechanically linked to the Kia Carens Clavis EV, which has increased curiosity about this model in the Indian market.
If Hyundai further expands its global EV lineup in the future, a practical electric MPV concept like the Neira could become an interesting option for markets like India. However, this will only be confirmed when the company shares an official roadmap.
