BMW has launched its new X1 LWB (Long Wheelbase) in the Indian market. Its starting price is Rs. 49.90 lakh (ex-showroom).
Notably, the new X1 LWB is priced Rs. 1 lakh less than the standard-wheelbase X1 petrol. The company has designed it with increased rear seat space and improved ride comfort in mind.

The new BMW X1 LWB is offered only with a petrol engine. It comes with a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The M Sport styling package is also standard on the car.

Priced at Rs. 49.90 lakh, the X1 LWB is now the most affordable car in the BMW X1 lineup.
108mm Longer Wheelbase
The biggest change to the BMW X1 LWB is its dimensions. It is 116mm longer than the standard X1, with 108mm of this extra length being added to the wheelbase. This directly benefits rear passengers.
The rear seat has also been made more comfortable. The seat base has been lengthened by 15mm, with improved cushioning, providing better thigh support. Additionally, the rear seat backrest has been reclining to a certain degree.
What’s changed in the M Sport package and exterior?
The BMW X1 LWB has standardized the M Sport styling package. It features a sporty bumper design and other M Sport elements. The car features 18-inch alloy wheels, which are carried over from the standard X1.
A small but distinct change is the chrome surround around the windows. The standard X1 offers a black finish. Customers can opt for the Shadow Package as an additional option.
The BMW X1 LWB is offered in four colors—Night Dusk Blue, Skyscraper Grey, Carbon Black, and Mineral White.

No major changes to features
The cabin layout remains the same as the standard X1. It features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The dashboard features asymmetric AC vents and an upright wireless phone charging pad at the bottom.
The car also features a floating center console, adaptive LED headlamps, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, powered front seats, and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
However, the X1 LWB lacks front seat ventilation and massage functions. It also lacks a separate climate zone for rear passengers.
8 Airbags and ADAS for Safety
In terms of safety, the BMW X1 LWB comes with 8 airbags, ABS, ESC, and Isofix child-seat mounts. The car also offers some ADAS features, including automatic emergency braking and lane departure warning and assist.
However, adaptive cruise control is not available.
The X1 LWB comes with a 156hp petrol engine
The BMW X1 LWB is powered by a 1.5-liter, 3-cylinder, direct-injection turbo-petrol engine. This engine produces 156hp and 230Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
The special feature of this engine is that it delivers 20 hp more power than the standard X1. During testing, the X1 LWB accelerated from 0-100 km/h in 9.58 seconds.
Unlike the standard X1, the BMW X1 LWB does not offer a diesel engine.

In addition to the longer wheelbase, BMW has also modified the X1 LWB’s suspension setup. The company has tuned it to provide better ride comfort in Indian conditions. With a longer wheelbase and updated rear seat, the main focus is on providing greater comfort to rear passengers.
