The test mule was completely covered in camouflage, so its exact design is not yet known. However, based on the SUV’s overall shape and ORVM design, it is believed to be the next-generation Nexon model.
The new Nexon will feature not only cosmetic changes, but also major updates to the cabin and technology.

What will the design of the new-gen Tata Nexon be like?

Tata Motors has been aggressively updating the design of its SUVs over the past few years. The company has been focusing on sharper styling and modern lighting elements in each new model.
For this reason, the front profile of the new-gen Tata Nexon is also expected to be sharper than before. The SUV could feature connected LED DRLs, a new bumper, and a redesigned grille.
The side profile could include new alloy wheels, while the rear section is likely to feature a connected light bar setup along with redesigned LED tail lamps.
The test car is currently in camouflage, so final confirmation of these design changes has not been received from Tata Motors.
The cabin will also offer a premium touch
The current Nexon’s cabin is already quite feature-laden. It includes features like ventilated front seats, a powered driver’s seat, a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof, and ADAS.
Tata may make the cabin even more premium with the new generation. The dashboard layout could be refreshed, and better-quality materials could be used.
Changes to the interior theme are also expected, which could make the cabin look different from the current model.
From Level-2 ADAS to an AR HUD, it could be available

Speaking of features, this area could be the biggest upgrade in the new-gen Tata Nexon.
ADAS is available in the current model, but Tata may work on providing Level-2 ADAS technology in the next-generation Nexon. Additionally, a larger dual-screen setup is also possible.
The expected feature list could include features like an Augmented Reality HUD, a powered co-driver seat, and a 12-speaker JBL Black sound system.
If these features make it to the production model, the Nexon’s premium quotient could improve significantly compared to the current model. Tata Motors has not yet officially confirmed these features.

Will there be petrol, CNG, diesel, and EV options?
The current Nexon is one of the few vehicles in the Indian segment that offers customers a wide range of options when it comes to powertrains.
Currently, it is available in 1.2-litre turbo-petrol, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol CNG and 1.5-litre diesel engine options. The Nexon EV is also available with two battery pack options.
In the next-generation model, Tata may introduce the option of an AMT gearbox with the CNG version. An important upgrade is also expected for the Nexon EV. The company may provide a larger battery pack in the electric version, which may improve the driving range.
However, the exact engine, gearbox and battery specifications of the new-generation Nexon have not been officially revealed yet.
When will the 2027 Tata Nexon be launched?

The new-generation Tata Nexon could be launched in the market around mid-2027. With testing beginning, it’s likely that Tata will reveal more details about the SUV in the next few months.
Regarding pricing, official information is not yet available. Available estimates suggest the pricing of the new Nexon could change depending on its positioning relative to the current model.
What to expect from the new-gen Tata Nexon?
Based on the information available so far, Tata’s focus on the next-generation Nexon will be on three areas—a fresh design, a premium cabin, and advanced technology.
The most interesting aspect will be how much Tata upgrades the new generation while retaining the current Nexon’s strengths. Whether the EV version offers a larger battery and better range will also be an important factor for buyers.
Auto India Daily Verdict
Looking at the new-gen Tata Nexon, it appears that Tata Motors intends to update its popular compact SUV beyond just a facelift. The next generation could focus heavily on cabin technology and safety features, along with design.
If additions like connected lighting, bigger screens, Level-2 ADAS, an AR HUD, and an upgraded EV battery make it to the production model, the Nexon could once again become a strong package in its segment.
Now the biggest question is the launch. If Tata brings this SUV to market by mid-2027 with competitive pricing, the new-gen Tata Nexon could be an important launch in the compact SUV segment.
Note: Some details related to the design, features, powertrain updates and launch timeline of the new-gen Tata Nexon are based on expectations. Tata Motors has not officially confirmed all these specifications.
