Nissan is preparing to expand its presence in the Indian market with a new range of SUVs. While the company is taking a relatively measured approach compared to its alliance partner Renault.
The Upcoming Nissan SUVs in India could help it target several important segments, from three-row family SUVs to full-size premium off-roaders.

The company has already strengthened its portfolio with the Nissan Tekton, but it is expected to introduce more products in the coming years. The Upcoming Nissan SUVs in India could include a new three-row model, the flagship Patrol and a possible revival of the Terrano nameplate.
Here’s what we know so far about Nissan’s upcoming SUV plans for India.

Nissan Three-Row SUV
The most important upcoming Nissan product for the Indian mass market could be a new three-row SUV planned for 2027. Nissan has already confirmed that it will introduce another locally manufactured SUV after the Tekton, with the new model positioned above it in the company’s line-up.
The upcoming SUV is expected to compete with models such as the Hyundai Alcazar and other three-row SUVs in the C-segment. Rather than being an entirely unrelated product, it is expected to share its basic architecture with the Tekton while receiving significant changes to its design, dimensions and engineering.
With a likely length of around 4.6 metres and a wheelbase of approximately 2.7 metres, the SUV should offer considerably more cabin space than the Tekton. Nissan has confirmed that the model will have a seven-seat layout, although a six-seat version with captain seats in the second row could also be introduced.
Under the bonnet, Nissan is expected to use a 1.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine developing around 161hp and 280Nm. Transmission choices could include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic.
The model could become one of the most important Upcoming Nissan SUVs in India, as it will target the growing family SUV market.
Nissan Patrol
At the other end of the spectrum, Nissan is also preparing to bring its flagship Patrol to India. Unlike the locally manufactured three-row SUV, the Patrol is expected to arrive as a CBU (Completely Built Unit).
The full-size SUV is positioned in the same broad space as premium body-on-frame SUVs such as the Toyota Land Cruiser 300. It offers seating for up to eight occupants and combines off-road capability with a long list of luxury features.
The India-spec Patrol is expected to feature large 22-inch wheels, adaptive air suspension, twin 14.3-inch displays, a colour head-up display and premium zero-gravity front seats with massage functions. Rear passengers could also get dedicated 12.8-inch entertainment screens, while a 12-speaker Klipsch audio system is expected to add to its luxury credentials.
Nissan is also expected to equip the Patrol with a comprehensive safety package. Features could include ProPILOT, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Prevention and Invisible Hood View, along with seven airbags.
Power is likely to come from Nissan’s 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine, producing around 425hp and 700Nm. A 9-speed automatic gearbox and part-time 4WD system are expected to send power to all four wheels.
While its CBU status means the Patrol is likely to be expensive in India, it could give Nissan a strong presence in the premium full-size SUV space.

Nissan Terrano Could Make A Comeback
The third SUV could be the most interesting one from a nameplate perspective. Nissan is reportedly considering bringing back the Terrano name for a new D-segment SUV.
The company showcased a concept for a larger SUV earlier this year, and the production model could eventually become a rival to established SUVs such as the Toyota Fortuner.
The new Terrano, if approved for India, is expected to use a modified version of a body-on-frame platform related to the Frontier Pro pickup. This would give Nissan the flexibility to position it as a proper rugged SUV rather than a crossover.
The model could arrive in India towards the end of the decade, with local assembly potentially taking place using imported knocked-down kits.
Another interesting aspect could be its powertrain strategy. Nissan is expected to consider both internal-combustion and plug-in hybrid powertrains, giving the future SUV a broader appeal as the Indian market gradually moves towards electrified vehicles.
Nissan’s India SUV Strategy
The Upcoming Nissan SUVs in India show that the company is looking at multiple segments instead of relying on a single SUV. The three-row model could become its volume-focused product, while the Patrol would establish a presence in the premium full-size SUV segment.
The possible Terrano revival, meanwhile, could give Nissan a Fortuner-rivaling product with both conventional and electrified powertrain options.
If these plans materialise as expected, Nissan’s India portfolio could look considerably different over the next few years. The company is taking a more gradual route, but its upcoming SUVs suggest that the brand is preparing for a much stronger second innings in the Indian market.
