2027 Hyundai Tucson Gets A More Rugged Design

The biggest talking point of the new 2027 Hyundai Tucson is its exterior styling. While the outgoing model already featured sharp creases and angular elements, the fifth-generation SUV takes this design approach much further.

The new Tucson now gets a squarer and more upright body, along with chunky wheel-arch extensions that give it a considerably tougher appearance. The front end is also more substantial, making the SUV look wider and more imposing than before.

Hyundai has equipped the Tucson with a full-width light bar at the front, while the main headlamps are positioned lower on the bumper area. These units feature a distinctive geometric design that gives the SUV a futuristic appearance.

The rear follows a similar theme, with another full-width lighting element and angular tail-lamps. Overall, the new Tucson looks more rugged than the outgoing model while continuing Hyundai’s modern design language.

Larger Dimensions Should Improve Cabin Space

Hyundai has also increased the overall size of the new 2027 Hyundai Tucson. While the company has not yet revealed complete dimensional specifications, the additional size should provide more room for passengers.

One particularly interesting change is the improved access to the second row. The rear doors can now open up to 83 degrees, making it easier for passengers to get in and out of the SUV.

This should be particularly useful for families and passengers who frequently use the rear seats.

New 2027 Hyundai Tucson Interior Revealed

The cabin has undergone an equally significant transformation. Hyundai has moved away from the more layered dashboard design of the current model and introduced a cleaner, horizontal layout.

A large central touchscreen dominates the dashboard, while the driver gets a slim digital instrument display. The new Tucson also features a two-spoke steering wheel and ambient lighting integrated into the dashboard.

Despite the increasing use of screens in modern cars, Hyundai has retained physical controls for several functions. This should make commonly used features easier to operate without taking attention away from the road.

The overall cabin design looks considerably more premium, with the cleaner dashboard and new technology giving the Tucson a more upmarket feel.

2027 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Gets More Power And Better Efficiency

The new-generation 2027 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid will continue with a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine paired with an electric motor. However, the hybrid powertrain has received a notable performance upgrade.

The new setup produces 180kW (around 242hp) and 380Nm, compared with 172kW and 367Nm in the outgoing model. This translates to a 4.7% increase in power and a 3.5% increase in torque.

Hyundai claims a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 8.5 seconds, making the new hybrid around a second quicker than the non-hybrid 1.6-litre turbo version.

More importantly, Hyundai has also improved fuel efficiency. The new Tucson Hybrid is rated at 17.4km/l, equivalent to around 5.7L/100km under the Korean testing cycle. Based on the improvement over the current model, the Australian-spec version could potentially return around 4.6L/100km, although the final local figure is yet to be confirmed.

2027 Hyundai Tucson India Launch

Hyundai has not yet confirmed an India launch date for the fifth-generation Tucson. However, an India introduction is highly likely given the model’s existing presence in the market.

The current-generation Tucson is already sold in India, and the new model could eventually replace it once Hyundai completes its market-specific plans.

However, Indian buyers will have to wait for some time. The new 2027 Hyundai Tucson is unlikely to arrive in India before late 2027, meaning more information about its India-spec design, engine options, features and pricing should emerge closer to its launch.

New Tucson: A Major Change For Hyundai

The fifth-generation 2027 Hyundai Tucson represents one of the most significant design changes Hyundai has made to the SUV. Instead of simply refining the existing styling, Hyundai has given it a much boxier silhouette, more prominent proportions and a completely redesigned cabin.

The increased dimensions, wider-opening rear doors, upgraded interior and more powerful hybrid system should also make the SUV more competitive in the global market.

While Hyundai is yet to reveal several technical details, one thing is already clear—the 2027 Hyundai Tucson is a much bolder SUV than its predecessor. Whether its radical styling appeals to Indian buyers will become clearer once Hyundai confirms its plans for our market.

With Hyundai targeting a global launch between October and December 2026, more details about market-specific specifications are expected to emerge soon. For Australia, the new Tucson Hybrid is understood to arrive around April or May 2027, while Indian availability and specifications are likely to be confirmed at a later stage.
