JSW Motors is launching its Indian automotive journey with a rugged plug-in hybrid SUV. The company’s first SUV will be called the JSW Combat and will be based on Chery’s global-market Jetour T2.

The most interesting aspect will be its powertrain. The JSW Combat is expected to feature a plug-in hybrid setup, which will position it differently from traditional petrol SUVs as well as hybrid models. The company plans to price it aggressively, with an expected ex-showroom price of between Rs. 30 lakh and Rs. 50 lakh.

JSW Combat Price: Could Be Between Rs 30 – Rs 50 Lakh
JSW Motors intends to introduce the Combat to the Indian market with competitive pricing. Expected prices could range from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom).
With this positioning, the Combat will be an interesting proposition, as it will fall within this price bracket as a 5-seater plug-in hybrid SUV. It could be compared to the strong-hybrid Honda ZR-V, while its rugged SUV design could make it an alternative to established models like the Toyota Fortuner.
This means that the JSW Combat will focus not only on electrified powertrains, but also on creating an image as a proper lifestyle SUV.

In terms of design, the JSW Combat’s overall silhouette is expected to be similar to the Jetour T2. However, JSW Motors may make some styling changes along with its branding for the Indian-spec SUV.
The SUV’s design is quite upright and boxy. It features elements like squarish LED headlamps, chunky bumpers, and prominent body cladding. 20-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, and vertically positioned LED taillights further enhance its rugged look.
The most noticeable details of the rear profile include the spare wheel mounted on the boot lid and its squircle-shaped cover. Subtle changes are also expected to the headlamps, grille, and bumpers, while JSW branding will be present on the exterior.
JSW Combat Interior and Features
In the cabin, the Combat is expected to feature a modern and technology-focused dashboard layout. It could feature a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen along with a 10.6-inch digital driver’s display.
The four-spoke steering wheel will feature JSW branding, while judging by the feature list of the global-spec Jetour T2, the Indian SUV could also feature a lengthy list of premium equipment.
Expected features include a 12-speaker sound system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, and adaptive cruise control. A 540-degree camera is also available on the Global T2, which provides a view underneath the vehicle in addition to the conventional 360-degree view.
The final feature list of the Indian-spec Combat will be confirmed closer to launch.
JSW Combat PHEV Powertrain: Up to 360 hp and 610 Nm Output
The powertrain could be the biggest highlight of the Combat. The SUV’s 1.5-liter direct-injection turbo-petrol engine could be paired with two electric motors. This setup will be powered by an 18.4 kWh battery pack.
In the Global-spec Jetour T2, this plug-in hybrid system develops a combined 360 hp and 610 Nm. A 3-speed dedicated hybrid transmission is used to send power to the front wheels.
The Jetour T2 is available globally in FWD and AWD configurations, but the India-bound JSW Combat is expected to come with a front-wheel-drive setup.
90km Electric Range and 1,200km Combined Range
Using the global-spec T2 figures as reference, the 18.4kWh battery offers up to 90km of electric-only range on the NEDC cycle. Charging the battery from 30 to 100 percent takes around 3 hours using a 6.6kW AC charger, while charging from 30 to 80 percent can be achieved in approximately 27 minutes using a 50kW DC charger.
The T2’s claimed combined driving range is up to 1,200 km. The JSW Combat’s powertrain specifications are also likely to be around this setup, although India-specific figures will be confirmed at launch.

When will the JSW Combat launch?
