The biggest addition to the Trailblazer lineup is a new Z71 trim, bringing a more adventure-focused setup with standard all-wheel drive, off-road-tuned suspension and sport-terrain tires.
2027 Chevrolet Trax and Trailblazer SUVs are expected to arrive at U.S. dealerships in spring 2027, while Chevrolet has yet to announce official pricing. Chevrolet’s Canadian site also confirms the new Trailblazer is expected to become available in early spring 2027.

More Than 20 Standard Safety Features

One of the most important changes for 2027 is happening beneath the surface. Chevrolet has upgraded the electrical and software architecture of both SUVs, allowing the company to offer more than 20 standard safety and driver-assistance features.
New additions include:
- Reverse Automatic Braking
- Side Bicyclist Alert
- Rear Cross Traffic Braking
- Front Park Assist
- Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking
- Rear Seat Belt Indicator
These join existing systems such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Safety Alert Seat and Blind Zone Steering Assist.
That is a significant move for vehicles positioned near the more affordable end of the U.S. SUV market. Instead of making buyers move up to an expensive trim to access a long list of driver-assistance technology, Chevy is making the 2027 models substantially better equipped from the start.
Bigger Screens and Google Gemini

The interior gets one of the most visible changes for 2027 Chevrolet Trax and Trailblazer.
Both the Trax and Trailblazer now feature an 11.0-inch driver information display paired with an 11.3-inch infotainment touchscreen.
The larger center display also brings Google built-in, including access to Google Maps, Google Play and, on supported vehicles, Google Gemini.
Chevrolet describes Gemini as an AI assistant that can help drivers perform tasks such as planning trips, summarizing messages, answering questions and interacting with certain vehicle functions through natural voice commands.
For buyers, this is more than simply increasing screen size. The affordable Chevy SUVs are moving closer to the connected, software-heavy experience already becoming common in more expensive vehicles.
Chevrolet is also including 12 months of OnStar One with new buyers. The package adds connected services, including in-vehicle Wi-Fi hotspot capability and video streaming alongside standard OnStar functionality.
2027 Chevrolet Trax Gets a Simpler Lineup

Chevrolet is simplifying the Trax range for 2027, reducing it to three trims: the entry-level model, RS and Activ.
The exterior receives several updates, including a redesigned grille, revised wheels, all-LED taillamps and a redesigned liftgate. A power liftgate will also become available on the Trax for the first time.
The trim strategy remains straightforward.
The entry-level model gets higher-contrast wheel designs, while the RS receives 19-inch wheels, making them the largest wheels offered across the Trax lineup. The Activ continues with its more rugged-looking front-end treatment.
A new Storm Sky Gray interior color will also be available across the Trax and Trailblazer.
The current Trax starts at $21,700 in the U.S. for the 2026 model year, making it Chevrolet’s least expensive SUV. However, Chevrolet has not yet announced where the 2027 model will be priced.

2027 Trailblazer Adds the Z71 Trim

The bigger story for the Trailblazer is the arrival of the Z71.
Chevrolet has been expanding the Z71 nameplate across its SUV and truck portfolio, and the 2027 Trailblazer brings that formula into the subcompact SUV segment.
The new Trailblazer Z71 gets:
- Standard all-wheel drive
- Off-road-tuned suspension
- Sport-terrain tires
- Front steel skid plate
- Orange interior accents
- Jet Black and Storm Sky Gray interior theme
Chevrolet’s official information confirms the Z71 is designed to provide a higher level of capability, rather than simply adding cosmetic changes.
That could make the Trailblazer more interesting for buyers who want a small SUV but occasionally venture onto dirt roads, trails or rougher terrain.
The Trailblazer also receives a redesigned interior with a column-mounted shifter. Moving the shifter frees up additional space in the center console, allowing Chevrolet to rework the storage area and add retractable cupholders.
Rear HVAC vents are another practical addition, while an AutoSense power liftgate becomes available for the first time.
The Trailblazer Is Also Getting a Powertrain Change
There is another important difference between the two SUVs that buyers should know about.
The 2027 Trailblazer is moving away from the previous 1.2-liter turbocharged engine, with Chevrolet making the 1.3-liter turbo engine standard. Chevrolet Canada’s official 2027 Trailblazer information confirms the 1.3L Turbo as standard equipment.
The Trax, meanwhile, is expected to continue with its 1.2-liter turbocharged engine and six-speed automatic transmission. Current information indicates the Trax remains front-wheel drive.
So although both SUVs receive similar technology upgrades, Chevrolet is positioning them differently.
The Trax remains the more straightforward, value-oriented choice, while the Trailblazer gets additional capability and the new Z71 option for buyers who want something more adventurous.
Why These Updates Matter for U.S. Buyers
The timing is important.
Chevrolet says the Trax and Trailblazer have already crossed 250,000 combined deliveries this year, making the two models increasingly important to the brand’s affordable SUV strategy.
That means the 2027 changes aren’t simply a cosmetic refresh. Chevrolet is upgrading the areas buyers increasingly care about: safety technology, digital interfaces, connectivity and everyday convenience.
The new Z71 also gives the Trailblazer a clearer identity. Instead of competing purely on price and practicality, Chevrolet can now attract buyers looking for a small SUV with more personality and light off-road capability.
At the same time, the larger screens and Google Gemini integration help keep both models competitive against newer small SUVs that are increasingly defined by their software and connectivity.
2027 Chevrolet Trax and Trailblazer: Pricing and Availability
Chevrolet has not announced official U.S. pricing for the 2027 Chevrolet Trax and Trailblazer yet.
Both SUVs are expected to reach dealerships in spring 2027. Chevrolet’s current official information lists early spring 2027 availability for the Trailblazer.
Pricing will be particularly important because the Trax currently occupies one of the lowest entry points in Chevy’s SUV lineup, starting at $21,700 for the 2026 model year.
If Chevrolet manages to keep the 2027 price increase modest despite adding substantially more standard technology, the Trax could remain one of the stronger value propositions in the U.S. small-SUV market.
Beyond the Headlines
The biggest story with the 2027 Chevrolet Trax and Trailblazer isn’t actually the new screens or the styling changes. It’s the amount of technology Chevrolet is moving into its lower-priced SUVs.
More than 20 standard safety features, larger displays and Google Gemini make these vehicles feel considerably more modern without moving them into a completely different price category.
For the Trailblazer, however, the Z71 is arguably the more significant strategic change. Standard AWD, off-road suspension tuning, sport-terrain tires and a skid plate give Chevrolet a new way to differentiate the SUV from the Trax.
For U.S. buyers, the decision could therefore become pretty simple: Trax for maximum value and everyday urban practicality, Trailblazer for additional space, AWD availability and the new Z71 adventure angle.
The one major piece still missing is pricing. Once Chevrolet reveals the 2027 MSRP, we’ll have a much clearer picture of whether these upgrades make the 2027 Chevrolet Trax and Trailblazer stronger bargains—or simply more expensive versions of two already-successful small SUVs.
