The 2027 Chevy Trax has been spotted completely undisguised during testing, revealing the exterior design changes of the upcoming refreshed SUV for the first time.
Chevrolet is preparing to update the current-generation Trax for the 2027 model year, and the latest spy shots confirm noticeable changes to the front and rear styling.

The second-generation Trax was introduced in the 2024 model year and has become one of Chevrolet’s important small SUVs in the US market. Now, with a mid-cycle refresh, Chevy is preparing to bring this SUV closer to the latest design language.

2027 Chevy Trax Front Design Gets Major Changes
The biggest update is visible on the Trax’s front end. The current model had a chrome-style element separating the upper and lower grille elements, but this has been removed in the refreshed version.
The daytime running lights and slim grille trim are now positioned above a narrow body-colored section. The headlamp units also appear to have a more horizontal layout compared to the previous setup.
The front grille gets a wider hexagonal shape, while vertical design elements on both sides give the front of the SUV a wider appearance. Based on spy images, the grille pattern has also been revised.
Rear Gets New LED-Style Tail-Lamp Design
Changes are also noticeable in the rear profile. The refreshed 2027 Chevy Trax gets thinner and wider-looking tail lamps, which appear to extend onto the side sections of the body at the outer edges.
A black trim element connects the two tail lamps. This treatment appears to be similar to the latest design cues on Chevrolet’s larger SUVs, including the Equinox and Traverse.
The rear bumper also gets a redesigned look, featuring a boxier treatment and revised horizontal reflectors.
Interior Updates Expected
The cabin is not clearly captured in spy photos of the latest undisguised prototype. However, previously seen camouflaged prototypes indicate that Chevrolet may make some changes to the dashboard’s screen layout.
The current Trax comes with a digital driver display and a large central touchscreen setup. The infotainment screen size available in Chevrolet’s current Trax is up to 11 inches, while the driver information display is available up to 8 inches, depending on configuration.
The exact screen sizes and feature list for the refreshed model will be confirmed after Chevrolet’s official debut.

2027 Chevy Trax Engine: No Major Changes Expected
No major mechanical changes are expected in terms of powertrain. The current Trax comes with a 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine producing 137 hp. A six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive setup are available.
This powertrain is likely to continue in the refreshed 2027 Chevy Trax based on the current-generation specification, but Chevrolet has not yet officially confirmed the final 2027 engine specifications.

2027 Chevy Trax Debut and US Launch
Chevrolet has not yet announced the official debut date of the refreshed Trax. According to current spy-reporting, the official reveal of the SUV could happen in the next few months, while sales are expected to start around early 2027.
Pricing and trim-wise feature changes will also be clear at the time of official debut. The current 2026 Trax has a US starting MSRP of $23,495, but pricing for the refreshed 2027 model has not yet been officially confirmed.
