Toyota Glanza Facelift: What’s changed in the front design?

According to the teaser, the Toyota Glanza Facelift will feature noticeable changes to its front profile. The first notable change is the positioning of the Toyota logo, which is now visible on the upper section of the bonnet. The U-shaped chin element on the front bumper has received a chrome treatment instead of the previous black finish, giving the front of the car a distinct appearance.

Revised square-shaped housings for the front LED fog lamps are also visible. In comparison, the headlamp clusters appear largely unchanged. The teaser shows the car with a red exterior shade, but all color options and the complete exterior design have not yet been revealed.

The Glanza’s overall silhouette is likely to remain familiar, as it is based on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. Toyota may focus on refreshing the front styling, while major changes to the rear profile and body structure have not yet been confirmed.

Toyota Glanza Facelift: New 1.2-Liter Petrol Engine Expected

The most significant expected update to the Toyota Glanza Facelift could be its powertrain. According to reports, the current 1.2-liter four-cylinder petrol engine could be replaced by Maruti Suzuki’s new Z-Series 1.2-liter three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine.

This engine produces approximately 83 bhp and 112 Nm of torque in the updated Baleno. If the Toyota Glanza gets the same setup, buyers will notice a change in engine configuration. However, Toyota will confirm final specifications and performance figures at launch.

Transmission options are expected to include a five-speed manual and an AMT gearbox. A CNG variant may also continue, but official confirmation from Toyota is awaited on the fuel options and variant-wise availability of the facelifted Glanza.

An engine change does not automatically guarantee improved mileage or performance. Buyers should assess final fuel-efficiency figures and real-world driving experience only after the specifications are released.

Will the cabin feature ADAS and ventilated seats?

Toyota hasn’t yet teased the interior of the Toyota Glanza Facelift. Therefore, cabin upgrades should be considered expected changes for now. Based on the updated Baleno, the Glanza is also likely to receive some additional comfort, convenience, and safety features.

Expected features include ventilated front seats, Level 2 ADAS, and a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system. However, it’s not confirmed which of these features Toyota will offer and in which variants.

If driver-assistance features like ADAS are available on the top variant, the Glanza’s safety and technology package could receive an upgrade. Ventilated seats could be a practical addition during Indian summers. Still, buyers should wait for the final equipment list as the teaser does not confirm the interior specifications.

Currently, the Toyota Glanza’s ex-showroom price ranges from Rs. 6.73 lakh to Rs. 9.99 lakh. The facelift’s styling, engine, and feature updates may result in a slight increase in pricing for the revised model. Toyota has not yet announced the official price of the new Glanza.

It’s important to compare pricing not just based on the starting price, but also based on variant-wise equipment and gearbox options. If additional features are only available in the top variant, buyers will need to compare variants based on their budget.

Will compete with Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Tata Altroz, and Hyundai i20

After the facelift, the Toyota Glanza will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Tata Altroz, and Hyundai i20 in the premium hatchback segment. The Baleno is its closest rival, as the two cars share a platform and powertrain.

The Tata Altroz attracts buyers who value a hatchback’s design and safety package, while the Hyundai i20 focuses on premium features and styling. Offering an updated engine and additional equipment at competitive pricing will be crucial for the Glanza.

Auto India Daily Verdict

The Toyota Glanza Facelift teaser hints at a relatively focused update, with upgrades to the engine and features expected alongside changes to the front styling. But a mere teaser isn’t enough for a final verdict. Details like engine specifications, fuel efficiency, ADAS availability, variant-wise equipment, and pricing will influence buyers’ decisions.

The most important question at the expected launch on October 14 will be how differently Toyota positions the updated Glanza from the Baleno and how much of a price premium it charges for additional features. If Toyota offers useful upgrades at competitive pricing, the facelifted Glanza could become a relevant option for premium hatchback buyers.
