Hybrid variant with 1.0-liter turbo-petrol in 2027

The European-spec Hyundai Bayon N Line will launch with a 1.0-liter T-GDI turbo-petrol engine in two output options. The entry-level version produces 90 PS, and the higher-output version produces 115 PS. Transmission options include a six-speed manual and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, with front-wheel drive.

According to Hyundai’s published figures, the petrol variants can reach a top speed of up to 180 kmph, depending on the configuration. Acceleration and performance figures will also depend on the engine and transmission combination selected.

A hybrid powertrain based on a 1.6-liter GDI petrol engine and electric motor will be added to the Bayon lineup in 2027. This system has a projected combined output of 138 PS. The hybrid variant will feature a six-speed dual-clutch transmission and will also come with a front-wheel-drive configuration.

The hybrid model will also feature an adaptive regenerative braking system. Steering wheel-mounted paddles will allow the driver to adjust the level of energy recovery. Hyundai has estimated preliminary WLTP CO2 emissions starting at 102g/km; final figures may vary depending on variant and homologation.

The new European Bayon has a length of 4,245mm, a width of 1,810mm, and a wheelbase of 2,600mm. Its longer wheelbase helps provide additional legroom for rear passengers.

Boot capacity is stated to be 440 liters in petrol variants, while the hybrid version will have 397 liters. Luggage space varies due to the additional components of the hybrid system.

Reclining seatbacks, a central armrest, and dedicated air vents are provided for rear passenger comfort. Selected equipment packages also offer options such as heated rear seats and heating and ventilation for the front seats.

Dual 12.3-inch Screens and Digital Key 2

The cabin features dual 12.3-inch curved displays that handle instrument cluster and infotainment functions. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity makes it convenient. The vehicle can be unlocked and started using compatible smartphones and smartwatches via the Hyundai Digital Key 2.

The equipment list includes features such as wireless phone charging, dual-zone climate control, an openable panoramic sunroof, and an eight-speaker Bose audio system. Selected configurations will also offer an optional Entertainment Package that provides access to video streaming services through the infotainment screen.

The Hyundai Bayon N Line cabin uses cloth and textile-suede upholstery, reinforcing its sporty character. However, actual equipment availability may vary depending on the European market and the selected variant.

Hyundai SmartSense safety features

New Bayons are equipped with Hyundai’s SmartSense driver assistance package. Available features include Highway Driving Assist 2, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2, and Lane Following Assist 2.

Selected variants may also include a Surround View Monitor, Blind-Spot View Monitor, and a reverse parking collision avoidance system. These technologies are intended to provide additional assistance to the driver while driving and parking. They should not be considered a replacement for driver attention and control.

How different is the European SUV from the India-spec Hyundai Bayon?

The European Hyundai Bayon N Line turbo-petrol and hybrid powertrains should not be confused with the India-bound model. Hyundai Motor India has unveiled the Indian-spec Bayon and set its launch date for October 26, 2026.

The Indian version will be powered by a 1.5-liter MPi naturally aspirated petrol engine, producing 115 PS of power and 144 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a six-speed manual and IVT. The company has also highlighted features like connected technology, dual 12.3-inch curved displays, and a generative AI voice assistant for the Indian model.

At present, there is no official confirmation on the European Bayon’s 1.0-liter turbo-petrol and 1.6-liter hybrid powertrains being offered in India. Therefore, Indian buyers should focus on the announced engines, variants, and feature list at the time of launch.

Auto India Daily Verdict

The European Hyundai Bayon N Line sporty exterior, dual-screen cabin, and future hybrid option make it an interesting package in the compact SUV segment. A hybrid variant due in 2027 could be relevant for European buyers who want improved efficiency with a petrol engine.

The focus for India is currently different. The Bayon will launch here with a 1.5-liter petrol engine and manual-IVT options. The European N Line styling and hybrid technology are certainly interesting, but it’s not yet clear whether they represent a confirmed specification for the Indian model.
