India-Spec Hyundai Bayon has been fully revealed ahead of its October 26 price announcement in India, bringing a new option to the brand’s SUV lineup.
Positioned between the Venue and Creta, the upcoming SUV will target the Maruti Suzuki Victoris with a combination of distinctive styling, a feature-loaded cabin and a familiar petrol powertrain. Bookings for the Bayon have also commenced.

The new model adopts Hyundai’s latest ‘Art of Steel’ design language and introduces several technology-focused features. One of its biggest highlights is a generative AI voice assistant, which the company describes as a first for a Hyundai model in India. The Bayon will initially be available with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, while a CNG version is expected to join the lineup at a later stage.

India-Spec Hyundai Bayon Exterior Design

The Hyundai Bayon gets a distinctive front fascia with a split-headlamp setup and slim LED daytime running lights positioned along the leading edge of the bonnet. The DRLs feature a design inspired by Hyundai’s ‘H’ motif, while the main headlamp units are integrated into the bumper.
The front bumper features chunky black cladding and silver-finished elements, giving the SUV a rugged appearance. Its overall styling shares some visual cues with Hyundai’s larger SUVs, although the Bayon follows a more crossover-oriented design rather than a boxy, upright SUV shape.
In profile, flared wheel arches, sharp character lines and petal-style alloy wheels add visual character. Traditional pull-type door handles have been retained, while the gloss-black treatment around the pillars creates a floating-roof effect.
At the rear, the India-Spec Hyundai Bayon gets a slim black band housing sleek tail-lamps, along with bold Bayon lettering across the tailgate. A pronounced roof spoiler and a dual-tone rear bumper with black and silver elements complete the exterior design. Hyundai has not yet disclosed the SUV’s exact dimensions.
India-Spec Hyundai Bayon Interior and Features

The Bayon’s cabin resembles the Brazil-spec Hyundai i20 revealed earlier. Its main highlight is a pair of connected 12.3-inch displays, one for the instrument cluster and the other for the infotainment system.
The dashboard also gets a vertical panel for the climate controls and display. Hyundai has retained physical buttons and dials for several functions, including shortcut controls below the touchscreen and buttons on the steering wheel. The centre console also features haptic controls, while the steering wheel houses a separate pod for the drive-mode selector.
Generative AI Voice Assistant

The most notable technology feature is the generative AI-powered voice assistant. Hyundai says the system can understand conversational requests and respond with relevant information, rather than relying only on predefined voice commands.
Other features include Bluelink connected-car technology with more than 70 functions, over-the-air updates, onboard navigation, split-screen functionality and smartphone-style quick controls. The system also supports multiple languages, including 10 regional and two international languages.
These features could help the Bayon stand out in a segment where connected technology and infotainment equipment increasingly influence buying decisions.

India-Spec Hyundai Bayon Engine and Gearbox Options
At launch, the India-Spec Hyundai Bayon will be powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 115hp and 144Nm. The engine is already used in the Creta and will be offered with a six-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic transmission.
Hyundai has not officially confirmed the CNG version yet. However, the alternative fuel option is expected to join the lineup at a later stage. If introduced as anticipated, it could give the Bayon an additional advantage for buyers prioritising running costs.
India-Spec Hyundai Bayon Expected Price and Rivals

The India-Spec Hyundai Bayon is expected to be priced between Rs. 9 lakh and Rs. 14 lakh (ex-showroom). This remains an expectation, not an officially announced price. Hyundai is scheduled to announce the final pricing on October 26.
The SUV will sit between the Venue and Creta in Hyundai’s lineup and is expected to compete with the Maruti Suzuki Victoris. Its positioning will give Hyundai another option for buyers looking for a relatively feature-rich SUV without moving to the Creta’s price bracket.
The petrol engine and two gearbox options will cover conventional powertrain requirements at launch, while a potential CNG version could broaden its appeal further. The final value proposition will depend on the prices and variant-wise equipment Hyundai announces.
Auto India Daily Verdict
The India-Spec Hyundai Bayon brings together fresh exterior styling, dual 12.3-inch displays and a generative AI voice assistant in a new SUV positioned between the Venue and Creta. Its 1.5-litre petrol engine offers familiar specifications, while the expected CNG option could appeal to cost-conscious buyers if Hyundai confirms it.
The key details to watch are the final price, variant-wise features and the timeline for the CNG version. With prices scheduled to be announced on October 26, the Bayon’s competitiveness against the Maruti Suzuki Victoris will become clearer once Hyundai reveals the complete lineup.
