Yamaha has given its smallest MT-series motorcycle a significant visual refresh for 2027. The 2027 Yamaha MT-125 gets redesigned bodywork, a sharper LED front end and a new colour option, bringing its appearance closer to the larger MT-07 and MT-09 models.

While the styling has been updated, the mechanical package remains unchanged. The motorcycle continues to use a 125cc liquid-cooled engine producing 14.5bhp and 11.5Nm of torque. For India, however, its launch appears unlikely to make strong commercial sense, as Yamaha already sells the larger MT-15 V2 in the same naked streetfighter segment.

2027 Yamaha MT-125: What’s New?
The latest Yamaha MT-125 gets a leaner profile with redesigned body panels, a revised seat and a newly sculpted fuel tank. The updated design gives the motorcycle a fresher appearance while retaining the aggressive character associated with Yamaha’s MT family.
The side panels feature textured surfaces, a smoked transparent finish and visible MT branding. Yamaha says the revised fuel tank shape is designed to provide a more comfortable riding position, whether navigating city traffic or leaning forward during spirited riding.
At the front, the motorcycle gets blade-style LED position lights and revised indicators. A smoked transparent front mask with a frosted MT-125 logo further distinguishes the updated model.
New Redline White Colour Option

The 2027 Yamaha MT-125 introduces a new Redline White colour scheme featuring contrasting graphics and a two-tone seat. It joins the existing Ice Storm, Icon Blue and Tech Black colour options.
The new colour adds another visual choice for buyers, while the updated bodywork gives the motorcycle a stronger family resemblance to Yamaha’s larger MT models.

2027 Yamaha MT-125: Engine & Performance
The Yamaha MT-125 continues with a 125cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, four-valve engine featuring Variable Valve Actuation (VVA).
The engine produces 14.5bhp at 10,000rpm and 11.5Nm of torque at 8,000rpm. Since the powertrain remains unchanged for 2027, the key update is focused on styling rather than outright performance.
VVA uses two intake cam profiles to balance low- and high-rev performance. The system is designed to maintain useful response at lower engine speeds while allowing the engine to breathe more freely as the revs rise.
2027 Yamaha MT-125: Hardware & Safety Features
The 2027 Yamaha MT-125 retains its Deltabox-style frame and aluminium swingarm. Suspension duties are handled by 41mm upside-down front forks with 130mm of travel.
An assist and slipper clutch is standard, helping manage clutch operation and rear-wheel behaviour during aggressive downshifts. The motorcycle also gets traction control, adding an electronic safety feature to its package.
The European-spec MT-125 has some hardware advantages over the India-spec MT-15 V2. Its 41mm upside-down front forks are larger than the 37mm units on the Indian motorcycle. It also gets a 292mm front disc brake, compared with the MT-15’s 282mm front disc, along with a radial-mounted front caliper.
These differences highlight that the MT-125’s European specification is not simply a smaller-capacity version of the Indian MT-15.
TFT Display and Smartphone Connectivity
The motorcycle continues to feature a five-inch colour TFT instrument display with three selectable display themes. Through Yamaha’s MyRide smartphone application, the display supports smartphone connectivity.
Riders can access turn-by-turn navigation, along with call, message and music information. These features add a connected technology package to the motorcycle’s compact streetfighter format.
Will the 2027 Yamaha MT-125 Launch in India?
An India launch for the 2027 Yamaha MT-125 appears unlikely at present. Yamaha already offers the MT-15 V2 in India, which uses a larger 155cc engine and serves a similar naked streetfighter role.
Introducing the MT-125 could place it in a difficult position within Yamaha’s own lineup, especially if its international-spec hardware results in a price close to or above that of the MT-15 V2.
However, some of the updated styling cues could influence the design direction of future Yamaha motorcycles. There is no confirmed India launch date or official announcement for the MT-125 at this stage.
Auto India Daily Verdict
The 2027 Yamaha MT-125 is primarily a design-led update rather than a mechanical overhaul. Its sharper LED front end, revised fuel tank, refreshed bodywork and new Redline White colour help it look more closely related to Yamaha’s larger MT motorcycles.
The unchanged 14.5bhp engine continues to focus on the lightweight 125cc streetfighter category, while features such as traction control, a five-inch TFT display, smartphone connectivity and premium suspension hardware strengthen its overall package.
For Indian buyers, the MT-15 V2 remains the more relevant option within Yamaha’s current lineup. Unless the company announces an India-specific plan, the refreshed MT-125 is best viewed as an international-market update rather than an upcoming Indian launch
