The Ducati Hypermotard V2 is available in two variants in India. The Standard model is priced at ₹16.53 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Hypermotard V2 SP costs Rs. 20.78 lakh (ex-showroom). The pricing difference between the two variants is Rs. 4.25 lakh (ex-showroom).

Bookings are now open at Ducati showrooms across India. Please note that these are ex-showroom prices; the final amount will be higher after applicable taxes, insurance, and registration charges are added to the on-road cost.

The Standard version is suitable for riders who want the performance and distinctive supermoto character of a Hypermotard. The SP variant features components such as premium suspension and upgraded tires, further focusing the bike’s handling package during aggressive riding.

Ducati Hypermotard V2 Engine: 890cc V-Twin Delivers 120.4hp Power

The most significant update to the new Hypermotard V2 is its 890cc, liquid-cooled, 90-degree V-twin engine. This motor produces a maximum of 120.4hp of power at 10,750rpm and 94Nm of torque at 8,250rpm. According to Ducati’s official specifications, this is the most powerful engine ever used in the Hypermotard family.

Compared to the old Hypermotard 950, the new motorcycle produces 6 hp more power, although maximum torque is 2 Nm less. This means that engine upgrades shouldn’t be judged solely on displacement. Ducati has also refined power delivery and overall performance character.

The new V2 engine features variable intake valve timing technology. Its objective is to improve performance and throttle response at different engine speeds. According to the company, approximately 70 percent of the 94 Nm torque is available at just 3,000 rpm, which can be useful when accelerating out of corners.

The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox and the bi-directional Ducati Quick Shift system. This allows riders to upshift and downshift without using the clutch, making gear changes convenient during spirited riding.

Ducati Hypermotard V2: Chassis, Suspension, & Braking Updates

The Ducati Hypermotard V2 features a monocoque frame, a key component of the new-generation platform. The motorcycle features a fully adjustable 46mm KYB upside-down fork at the front, with 170mm of travel. The rear features a monoshock with preload and rebound adjustment, with 160mm of travel.

The braking setup includes Brembo M4.32 calipers at the front. The tires have also been upgraded: the standard model comes with Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tires, while the previous generation came with Diablo Rosso III tires. The rear tire is also 10mm wider than before.

Speaking of features, the bike comes with a 5-inch TFT display, multiple riding and power modes, and a bi-directional quickshifter. These electronics help the rider adjust the motorcycle’s behavior according to riding conditions and personal preference.

The seat height is 880mm, an important consideration for a motorcycle in this category. Ducati offers the option to reduce this to 865mm with an accessory low seat. Combining the low seat and low suspension kit can increase the seat height to 850mm. Therefore, it’s wise to check your height and ability to comfortably handle the bike in a stationary position before purchasing.

Ducati Hypermotard V2 SP: What do you get for Rs. 4.25 lakh extra?

The Ducati Hypermotard V2 SP comes with more premium hardware than the standard version. It features Ohlins suspension at both ends and Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV Corsa tires. These components provide a more focused setup for aggressive cornering and sporty riding.

Another highlight of the SP variant is its special sports livery. The motorcycle features a ’20’ decal, marking 20 years since the original Hypermotard prototype debuted at EICMA 2005.

The SP also has an advantage in terms of weight. According to Ducati’s specifications, it weighs 177kg without fuel, which is 3kg less than the standard version. Both variants have the same engine output, so the main reason for choosing the SP isn’t the extra power, but rather the suspension, tires, weight, and overall premium setup.

Auto India Daily Verdict

The Indian launch of the Ducati Hypermotard V2 is an interesting addition to the premium performance motorcycle segment. At a starting price of Rs. 16.53 lakh, buyers get 120.4hp output, an 890cc V-twin engine, an updated chassis, and modern rider aids. This motorcycle could be more appealing to enthusiasts who prioritize an engaging riding experience and distinctive supermoto styling over everyday practicality.

Spending Rs. 4.25 lakh extra for the Ducati Hypermotard V2 SP will only be sensible if the Ohlins suspension, Rosso IV Corsa tires, and lower weight are genuinely valuable for your riding requirements. It’s important to understand the hardware differences between the two variants, rather than choosing the SP solely for special graphics.

Potential buyers should also consider the 880mm seat height, premium-bike ownership costs, and service support from their local Ducati dealership. Overall, the appeal of the new Hypermotard V2 lies not just in its power figures, but in the combination of engine, chassis, and supermoto riding character.
