Codenamed SX3, the next-generation Hyundai Creta could be introduced with a more modern design and updated technology compared to the current model. The SUV is expected to be launched by mid-2027. This time, the Creta’s focus won’t be limited to styling updates, as Hyundai could also introduce a strong-hybrid powertrain option.

The new Creta is expected to be developed on the K3 platform, which also powers the Kia Seltos. This could improve the SUV’s dimensions and cabin space. If a hybrid powertrain is also part of the lineup, the next-generation Creta’s competition in the Indian midsize SUV segment will become even more interesting.

2027 Hyundai Creta Spied: What’s New in the Spy Shots?

2027 Hyundai Creta rear spy shot showing vertically arranged tail-lamp elements, camouflaged tailgate, rear bumper and updated lighting design.

The most noticeable change in the latest spy shots is the new alloy wheel design. These wheels appear different from the previously seen test mules and give the SUV a comparatively sportier appearance. However, the exact wheel size is not confirmed from the spy images.

Some important details have also emerged on the front profile. The next-gen Creta is expected to feature a boxier grille design, likely with rectangular elements. A radar sensor is also visible in the center of the grille, which could be part of the SUV’s ADAS hardware.

The lighting setup is expected to feature a split-headlamp arrangement. The LED daytime running lamps are expected to be positioned in the upper section, while the main headlamp units will be located in the lower section. A three-segment LED taillight design has also been spotted on the rear profile in spy shots.

Regarding the side profile, revised ORVMs and a camera pod can be seen, which could be for the surround-view camera system. Furthermore, flush-type door handles could give the SUV’s overall design a cleaner and more contemporary look.

Front and rear parking sensors are also visible on the test vehicle. Overall, Hyundai appears to be taking the next-generation Creta’s exterior in a more boxy and modern direction.

2027 Hyundai Creta Interior: Pleos Connect Infotainment System Expected

The next-generation Creta’s interior could also see major changes. A test mule spotted overseas was spotted with a large infotainment touchscreen. This system could be part of Hyundai’s next-generation Pleos Connect infotainment platform.

It is also expected to include a slim digital driver display. Hyundai may give the cabin a more minimalistic and premium design compared to the current model. However, the company has not yet officially revealed the production-spec interior layout or final feature list.

If the Pleos Connect system reaches the production model, noticeable upgrades could be seen in the infotainment experience, connected features, and digital interface. Which features will be standard or limited to higher variants in the Indian-spec model will become clear closer to launch.

New Strong Hybrid Powertrain Could Be a Major Highlight

The most important mechanical update for the 2027 Hyundai Creta could be a possible strong-hybrid powertrain. According to reports, Hyundai is working on this technology, which could be shared with the upcoming Creta and Kia Seltos.

The expected hybrid setup could be based on the existing 1.5-liter, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. Strong-hybrid technology combines a petrol engine with an electric motor and battery system. Its objective is to improve fuel efficiency and provide electric assistance in city driving.

However, Hyundai has not yet disclosed the power, torque, battery capacity, or claimed mileage of the next-generation Creta’s hybrid system. Therefore, any specific mileage figure or performance output should not be considered confirmed at this time.

Existing Petrol and Diesel Engines May Continue

Apart from the hybrid option, the existing engine options of the current Creta may also continue in the next-generation model. Expected engine lineup:

  • 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine – 115hp
  • 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine – 160hp
  • 1.5-litre diesel engine – 116hp

Transmission options are expected to continue with manual and automatic gearbox combinations. However, final engine-wise transmission combinations and specifications will be confirmed after Hyundai’s official announcement.

K3 Platform Could Make the New Creta Larger

The next-generation Hyundai Creta is expected to be developed on the K3 platform. This platform also underpins the Kia Seltos. With the new architecture, the SUV’s dimensions could be larger than the current model, potentially resulting in additional cabin space.

Larger dimensions and revised packaging could benefit rear-seat passenger and luggage space. However, the exact length, wheelbase, and trunk capacity are not yet known.

The new Creta is expected to be positioned above the Bayon in Hyundai’s global SUV lineup. However, in the Indian market, its direct focus will remain on the midsize SUV segment.

2027 Hyundai Creta Expected Price and Rivals

The current Hyundai Creta ex-showroom pricing is Rs. Prices range from around Rs. 10.79 lakh to Rs. 19.95 lakh, including the Creta N Line. A price increase is expected given the design, technology, and possible hybrid powertrain updates in the next-generation model.

Upon launch in India, the 2027 Hyundai Creta will compete with SUVs like the Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, Nissan Tekton, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun. Hybrid options from the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyrider, and Renault Duster will also be important alternatives when the strong-hybrid version arrives.

Hybrid technology could be an important opportunity for Hyundai, as demand for fuel efficiency and lower running costs is growing among Indian buyers. However, final positioning and pricing will largely depend on the efficiency and equipment of the hybrid variant.

Auto India Daily Verdict

The latest spy test of the 2027 Hyundai Creta indicates that the next-generation SUV could feature significant changes in exterior styling, technology, and powertrain. A new grille, redesigned alloy wheels, flush door handles, and an updated lighting setup could give it a fresh identity.

But its biggest potential highlight will be a strong-hybrid powertrain. If Hyundai offers hybrid technology with competitive pricing, the Creta could gain an additional advantage in the Indian midsize SUV segment.

The current launch timeline is expected to be mid-2027. Official confirmation from Hyundai regarding hybrid specifications, final design, interior features, and pricing is awaited.
