The Honda Alpha Electric SUV is essentially the production version of the 0 Alpha concept, which was showcased at the Japan Mobility Show in 2025. The upcoming model will mark an important step in Honda’s electrification strategy, particularly in India, where demand for electric SUVs is gradually expanding.
Honda has confirmed the name and unveiling date, but important details such as battery capacity, driving range, charging time, performance and final pricing remain under wraps. The SUV is currently undergoing extensive testing on Indian roads ahead of its official debut.

Honda Alpha Electric SUV: Design Inspired by the 0 Alpha Concept

The production-spec Honda Alpha is expected to retain several design elements from the 0 Alpha concept. Spy sightings and the information available so far indicate that the electric SUV will feature a boxy silhouette, a flat bonnet, squared-off wheel arches and an upright rear section.
At the front, the SUV is expected to get a full-width horizontal LED lighting signature, while the rear could feature vertically arranged LED tail-lamps. Its upright proportions and distinctive lighting elements should help it develop a recognisable identity in the increasingly competitive electric SUV segment.
The SUV is also expected to feature aerodynamic alloy wheels designed to reduce air resistance and improve efficiency. However, Honda has not officially confirmed the final wheel design or size.
Cabin and Features: What to Expect?
The Honda Alpha’s cabin is expected to follow the brand’s familiar ‘Man Maximum, Machine Minimum’ design philosophy, which focuses on maximising passenger space while keeping the dashboard and controls relatively uncluttered.

The expected layout includes a landscape-oriented touchscreen infotainment system and a separate digital driver’s display. Since the Alpha is being developed around a dedicated electric vehicle platform, it could also benefit from a flat floor, improving rear-seat legroom and overall cabin practicality.
Other expected features include ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic glass roof and wireless smartphone connectivity. Honda Sensing Level 2 ADAS is also expected to be part of the equipment package, although the final feature list will be announced closer to the launch.
These features are currently expectations and should not be treated as confirmed specifications.

Battery, Range and Performance: Expected Details
Honda has not disclosed the technical specifications of the Alpha yet. However, reports suggest that the electric SUV could be offered with two LFP battery pack options, potentially in the 65kWh to 75kWh range.

A single electric motor powering the front wheels is also expected for the initial version. The larger battery option could help Honda target buyers looking for a family-friendly electric SUV with a practical driving range.
For now, the battery capacity, claimed range, motor output and charging specifications remain unconfirmed. These details will be important in determining how competitive the Alpha is against established electric SUVs in India.
Made in India: Tapukara Plant to Become Global Production Base
One of the most significant aspects of the Honda Alpha is its manufacturing strategy. Honda has confirmed that the electric SUV will be produced at its Tapukara facility in Rajasthan.
The plant is expected to serve as the global production base for the model, with India playing an important role in Honda’s future electric vehicle plans. This could also create opportunities for the company to serve international markets through local manufacturing.
The Honda Alpha will also introduce Honda’s new H mark for its automobile business in India, marking another change in the brand’s design and identity strategy.
Honda Alpha Electric SUV: Expected Price and Rivals
Honda has not announced the official price of the Alpha. Based on current expectations, the electric SUV could be positioned in the Rs. 18 lakh to Rs. 24 lakh price bracket (ex-showroom).
Once launched, it is expected to compete with electric SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta Electric, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, MG Windsor EV and the upcoming Tata Sierra EV. Depending on its final positioning and specifications, it could also attract buyers considering other premium electric SUVs.
The competition will be particularly challenging because buyers in this segment increasingly expect a combination of long driving range, fast charging, advanced safety features and a spacious cabin.
Auto India Daily Verdict
The Honda Alpha is an important product for Honda’s Indian operations, as it will mark the brand’s entry into the country’s mainstream electric SUV market. Local manufacturing at Tapukara and India’s position as the first launch market make this project particularly significant.
However, the real test will be its final battery specifications, driving range, charging capabilities and pricing. If Honda manages to offer competitive range, practical cabin space and a strong feature package, the Alpha could become an interesting alternative in India’s growing electric SUV market.
More clarity will arrive on December 2, 2026, when Honda officially unveils the production-spec electric SUV.
