The focus of the Austrian MotoGP weekend now shifts to the Sprint race. After qualifying at the Red Bull Ring, riders will now take to the track for points in a 14-lap Sprint. Jorge Martin secured pole position in qualifying and will start on the front row alongside Marc Marquez and Pedro Acosta. Marco Bezzecchi, Ai Ogura, and Alex Marquez will start from the second row, while Francesco Bagnaia will start in the Sprint from seventh position.

Jorge Martin, Marc Marquez, and Pedro Acosta are on the front row for the Sprint. Marco Bezzecchi, Ai Ogura, and Alex Marquez will start on the second row. Francesco Bagnaia is seventh, Fabio Di Giannantonio is eighth, and Fabio Quartararo is ninth.

7:05 PM IST — Austrian MotoGP Sprint LIVE: Martin retakes championship lead

Jorge Martin completed a remarkable comeback to win the Austrian MotoGP Sprint at the Red Bull Ring. After dropping to eighth on the opening lap, Martin fought his way back to the front before Pedro Acosta crashed out while leading with three laps remaining. Marc Marquez finished second and Marco Bezzecchi took third, while Martin’s Sprint victory puts him back at the top of the championship standings, three points clear of Marquez.

6:55 PM IST — Austrian MotoGP Sprint LIVE: Martin wins in Austria

Jorge Martin has won the Austrian MotoGP Sprint after an incredible recovery from eighth on Lap 1 to first place on the final lap. His victory came after Pedro Acosta crashed while leading the Sprint. Marc Marquez finished second, with Marco Bezzecchi taking third for his third consecutive Sprint podium.

Ai Ogura finished fourth ahead of Alex Marquez, Francesco Bagnaia, Johann Zarco, Fermin Aldeguer, Brad Binder and Fabio Di Giannantonio, who completed the top 10.


6:47 PM IST — Austrian MotoGP Sprint LIVE: Acosta leads by 2.7 seconds

Pedro Acosta holds a 2.7-second advantage over Jorge Martin at the end of Lap 9. Martin is matching Acosta’s pace but has not been able to reduce the gap, while Marc Marquez and Marco Bezzecchi remain close behind Martin with five laps remaining.


6:45 PM IST — Austrian MotoGP Sprint LIVE: Martin charges into second

Jorge Martin has moved up to P2 at Turn 1, passing Marc Marquez. Earlier on Lap 7, Martin overtook Marco Bezzecchi at the same corner to move into third. Marc Marquez is now around 0.4 seconds ahead of Martin, while Pedro Acosta leads by 2.5 seconds with half of the Sprint still remaining.


6:42 PM IST — Austrian MotoGP Sprint LIVE: Acosta leads as Martin moves to fourth

Pedro Acosta has extended his advantage at the front to more than 1.5 seconds over Marc Marquez at the end of Lap 5. Marco Bezzecchi is around half a second behind Marquez, while Jorge Martin has closed in further and is now also about half a second behind Bezzecchi.

Martin has made strong progress through the opening five laps. He moved up to fourth on Lap 5 after passing Alex Marquez at Turn 1, with Bezzecchi now the next rider ahead of him as he looks to close the gap to the leading group.

Meanwhile, Diogo Moreira and Raul Fernandez have both been handed penalties for jump starts. The pair will each have to serve a double long-lap penalty during the Sprint.


6:37 PM IST — Austrian MotoGP Sprint LIVE: Martin moves up to sixth

Pedro Acosta is nearly a second clear at the front after two laps, while Marco Bezzecchi is putting pressure on Marc Marquez for second. Jorge Martin has moved up to sixth after passing Francesco Bagnaia at Turn 1 at the start of Lap 3.


6:35 PM IST — Austrian MotoGP Sprint LIVE: Acosta takes the lead

The Sprint is underway at Spielberg. Jorge Martin made the holeshot, but Pedro Acosta now leads after Marc Marquez made an aggressive move at Turn 2 that dropped Martin to eighth. At Turn 3, Acosta passed both Marco Bezzecchi and Marc Marquez to take the lead.


6:31 PM IST — Austrian MotoGP Sprint LIVE: Riders begin warm-up lap

The riders are now out on their warm-up lap ahead of the 14-lap Austrian MotoGP Sprint at the Red Bull Ring. The race start is just moments away.


6:28 PM IST — Austrian MotoGP Sprint LIVE: Late tyre changes

There have been two late tyre changes ahead of the Sprint, with Francesco Bagnaia and Alex Rins switching to the medium rear tyre. Luca Marini has also moved to the medium rear, while everyone in the front three rows is on the soft rear tyre except Bagnaia.


6:22 PM IST — Austrian MotoGP Sprint LIVE: Martin leads the grid

Jorge Martin will start the Austrian MotoGP Sprint from pole position, with Marc Marquez and Pedro Acosta joining him on the front row. Marco Bezzecchi, Ai Ogura and Alex Marquez make up the second row, while Francesco Bagnaia starts seventh. Marc Marquez has started second in the last two Sprints and led the opening lap on both occasions.


6:18 PM IST — Austrian MotoGP Sprint LIVE: Riders arrive on the grid

The riders have now arrived on the Red Bull Ring grid ahead of the Austrian MotoGP Sprint. All riders are currently starting with a medium front tyre and soft rear tyre, with just 12 minutes remaining before the 14-lap Sprint gets underway.


6:10 PM IST — Austrian MotoGP Sprint LIVE: Riders head out for sighting lap

The pit lane is now open at the Red Bull Ring as MotoGP riders head out for their sighting lap ahead of the 14-lap Sprint. The race is scheduled to start at 6:30 PM IST, with just 20 minutes remaining.
