TVS Becomes India’s First Electric Two-Wheeler Brand to Cross 60,000 Monthly Sales

TVS Motor Company became the market leader in October 2026. The company recorded retail sales of 60,429 electric two-wheelers, a 94% growth compared to 31,076 units in October 2025.
TVS’s market share also increased from 20.59% last year to 26.99% in October 2026. With this performance, the company crossed the milestone of 60,000 units in monthly electric two-wheeler sales for the first time.
TVS’s iQube and Orbiter electric scooters are important products in the company’s EV portfolio. To manage growing demand, the manufacturer is preparing to increase its monthly production capacity to 80,000 units, up from approximately 60,000–65,000 units currently.

Bajaj Chetak Records 49,067 Units, Market Share Reaches Nearly 22%

Bajaj Auto sold 49,067 electric two-wheelers in October 2026, a 51% growth compared to 32,462 units in October 2025.
The company maintained its second position with a 21.91% market share. The Chetak range contributes significantly to Bajaj’s electric scooter sales.
Bajaj is also planning to increase the Chetak’s production capacity as demand remains strong. The company targets to increase monthly production from the current approximately 62,000 units to around 80,000 units by the first quarter of 2027.
The performance of both TVS and Bajaj indicates that established two-wheeler manufacturers are continuously strengthening their positions in the electric scooter market.
Ather Energy Sales Grow 5%, Market Share Declines

Ather Energy recorded retail sales of 31,796 electric two-wheelers in October 2026. This represents a 5% growth compared to 30,246 units in October 2025.
However, sales growth remained relatively slow compared to TVS and Bajaj. This also impacted Ather’s market share, which fell from 20.04% in October 2025 to 14.20% in October 2026.
The company had expected additional volumes from Ather’s upcoming Konarc electric scooter. However, manufacturing capacity constraints have put pressure on showroom dispatches. The company’s manufacturing expansion plans are expected to improve future availability.

Hero Vida was one of the manufacturers to register strong growth in October 2026. The brand sold 29,901 electric two-wheelers, an 81% increase compared to 16,499 units in October 2025.
October also brought the highest-ever monthly retail sales record for the Vida. The company’s market share increased from 10.89% to 13.35%.
This performance is important for Hero, as competition in the electric two-wheeler segment continues to increase. Vida’s growing volumes indicate that the brand is expanding its market presence.
Ola Electric Is the Only Top 10 Brand to Record a Sales Decline
Ola Electric’s performance in the October 2026 electric two-wheeler rankings was comparatively weak. The company recorded retail sales of 12,096 units, a 26% decline compared to 16,439 units in October 2025.
Ola’s market share also fell from 10.89% to 5.40% in a year. This clearly indicates that the company is facing strong competition from established manufacturers and emerging EV brands.
Once one of the leading brands in the Indian electric two-wheeler market, maintaining market share has now become a significant challenge for Ola.
River Mobility, BGauss, and Greaves Also Record Strong Growth

In addition to the top five, some emerging electric two-wheeler manufacturers also recorded impressive growth in October.
Greaves Electric Mobility sold 10,838 units, a 40% year-on-year growth. River Mobility recorded 273% growth with 6,796 units, the highest growth rate among the top 10.
BGauss Auto sales grew by 81% to 5,554 units. E-Sprinto Green Energy recorded 109% growth with 2,124 units, while Motovolt Mobility achieved 158% growth by selling 1,702 units.
These figures show that growth in the Indian electric two-wheeler market is not limited to just established manufacturers. Smaller manufacturers are also expanding their presence.
Electric Two-Wheelers Account for 63% of India’s EV Sales

According to source data for October 2026, total EV sales in the January–October period were 3.54 million.
Electric two-wheelers contributed approximately 63% of overall EV registrations, making this segment the largest contributor to India’s electric vehicle market.
The top six manufacturers combined captured approximately 87% of the electric two-wheeler market. This means that the major volume of the market is concentrated with brands like TVS, Bajaj, Ather, Hero Vida, Ola, and Greaves, while the remaining manufacturers collectively compete for a smaller share.
After record sales in October, the industry will be looking ahead to November 2026. Electric two-wheeler registrations could increase further due to festive purchases during Dhanteras and Diwali.
Auto India Daily Verdict
October 2026 was a landmark month for the Indian electric two-wheeler market. October 2026 Electric Two-Wheeler Sales reached a record 2.23 lakh retail units, highlighting 48% year-on-year growth. This performance reflects the growing popularity of the segment and strong consumer demand for electric scooters.
TVS’s milestone of 60,429 units, Bajaj’s sales of 49,067 units, and Hero Vida’s 81% growth make the market competition more interesting. On the other hand, Ola Electric’s declining sales and Ather’s relatively slow growth indicate that maintaining leadership in the EV market has become more challenging than ever.
In the coming months, production capacity, product availability, pricing, and after-sales support will play a key role in determining manufacturers’ market position. November and December retail figures will reveal whether October’s record festive demand was the result of demand, or whether the Indian electric two-wheeler market has entered a new, sustained growth phase.
