In the domestic market, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles sold 68,810 units, a 15% increase from 59,667 units sold last year. The international business also maintained growth, with sales increasing from 1,240 units to 1,400 units, a 13% YoY growth.

Looking at Tata September 2026 Sales numbers, the domestic market was the major contributor to the company’s overall volume. Domestic passenger vehicle sales reached 68,810 units, while international business accounted for 1,400 units.

Tata EV Sales Jump 67 Percent
Electric vehicles were a major driver of Tata’s growth in September. The company sold 15,384 EVs in domestic and international markets combined, a 67% YoY growth compared to 9,191 units in September 2025.
Tata’s EV performance wasn’t limited to September alone. In Q2 FY27, July-September 2026, the company sold 47,150 EVs, a 90% growth compared to 24,855 units the previous year. EVs contributed 23% to total Tata passenger vehicle sales for the quarter.
The company’s CNG models also achieved their highest-ever quarterly sales level in Q2 FY27. Combining EVs and CNG models, these powertrains contributed 51% of the quarter’s total volumes.
Q2 FY27 Tata Sales Reach 2.01 Lakh Units

Strong September numbers helped Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles record the company’s highest-ever quarterly sales performance in Q2 FY27. Total domestic and international passenger vehicle sales in the July-September quarter stood at 201,723 units, a 40% YoY growth compared to 144,397 units in Q2 FY26.
Domestic sales for the quarter stood at 196,674 units, while international business contributed 5,049 units. Domestic volume also grew 40% year-on-year.
According to Shailesh Chandra, MD and CEO of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, passenger vehicle demand maintained momentum in Q2 FY27 following GST 2.0. The company crossed the 70,000-unit monthly milestone at the end of the quarter and cited strong order books and customer traction for the festive season.

Punch Remains a Key Tata Volume Driver
Tata declared the Punch as India’s highest-selling SUV in Q2 FY27. The company also expanded its portfolio during the quarter, adding products such as the Curvv SeriesX, Sierra Legend Series, and the all-new Tata Aeris.
Tata’s current portfolio covers ICE, CNG, and EV powertrains, giving the company scope to capture demand across different fuel categories. EV growth was particularly notable in September numbers, while CNG’s contribution to the overall mix in Q2 was also significant.
