Ducati Monster V2 Dark Gets an All-Black Design

The most notable highlight of the Monster V2 Dark is its blacked-out appearance. The motorcycle features the ‘Ducati Dark’ livery, where both the body panels and the wheels are finished entirely in black. The red accents found on the standard Monster V2 have been removed in this variant.

Ducati has left some mechanical components with an unpainted finish, creating a contrast against the black bodywork. Additionally, the seat features a uniform material finish, and the rear seat cowl—present on the standard model—is absent in this variant.

Overall, the design of the Monster V2 Dark appears simpler and stealthier than that of the standard model.

Some Features Have Been Removed

To position the Ducati Monster V2 Dark as an entry-level variant, Ducati has made adjustments to its equipment list. The motorcycle does not include the LED sequential turn indicators found on the standard model.

Furthermore, the bi-directional Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) system is not included as standard equipment; however, buyers can opt for it as an additional accessory.

These changes help clarify the motorcycle’s overall market positioning. Ducati is targeting buyers who desire the performance and styling of the Monster V2 but prefer a more accessible option—one that omits certain additional features.

Engine and Hardware Remain Unchanged

Mechanically, there are no major changes to the Ducati Monster V2 Dark. It retains the 890cc V2 L-twin engine found in the standard Monster V2, producing 111bhp at 9,000rpm and a peak torque of 91.1Nm.

The motorcycle is built on a monocoque chassis. Suspension duties are handled by 43mm Showa upside-down forks at the front and a preload-adjustable Showa monoshock at the rear.

In essence, the Dark variant offers the same engine and suspension setup as the standard Monster V2; the differences are primarily limited to styling and specific equipment.

In terms of features, the Monster V2 Dark comes equipped with a suite of modern electronic rider aids. This includes a ride-by-wire throttle, a six-axis IMU, dual-channel lean-sensitive cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control (DTC), and Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC).

The motorcycle features a 5-inch colour TFT instrument console, which can be operated via a petal-style joystick. Riders can choose from four different riding modes based on their preferences.

Ducati Monster V2 Dark India Launch in 2027

The Ducati Monster V2 Dark is set to launch in India in 2027. The company has not yet announced its pricing for the Indian market.

Currently, the standard Ducati Monster V2 is priced at Rs 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Monster V2 Dark will be positioned as the entry-level option within the lineup. However, its final price in India—and the extent of the price difference compared to the standard model—will only be revealed at the time of launch.

Auto India Daily Verdict

The Ducati Monster V2 Dark could be an interesting option for buyers who desire the performance-oriented experience of the Monster range, wrapped in an understated, blacked-out design. Since the engine, chassis, and electronic rider aids remain largely unchanged, the motorcycle’s core character stays consistent with that of the standard Monster V2.

However, the omission of features like a quickshifter and sequential indicators—which are no longer included as standard equipment—might disappoint some buyers. Its success in India will depend largely on its pricing.

If Ducati launches it with a significant price difference compared to the standard Monster V2, it could serve as an attractive entry-level alternative within the lineup.
