Which Hybrid Technology Will These SUVs Use?

It’s important to understand an important distinction here. These five SUVs won’t all use the same type of hybrid technology.

The Renault Duster and Fronx fall into the strong/series-hybrid category, where the petrol engine and electric motor work together to improve efficiency.

The BYD Seal U and Jetour T2 are plug-in hybrids. They have comparatively larger battery packs and can be charged with an external charger. The MG Starlight 560 also has the possibility of coming to India with a PHEV powertrain.

Auto India Daily Verdict

The 5 Upcoming Hybrid SUVs in India could bring considerable variety to the market by the end of 2026. The Renault Duster Hybrid and Maruti Fronx Hybrid could be relatively accessible options for mass-market buyers, while the MG Starlight 560, Jetour T2 PHEV and BYD Seal U are expected to offer longer electric driving capability through plug-in hybrid technology.

Most importantly, final India-spec power, mileage, battery range and pricing will be confirmed closer to launch. Therefore, the figures reported for now should be viewed as expected/claimed figures only.
