The response from Indian buyers to the new Renault Duster Hybrid has been quite strong even before its launch. The Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 version of the Renault Duster Hybrid will arrive in India for deliveries around Diwali 2026.
The company has confirmed that the planned hybrid production allocation for 2026 has already been sold out.

Renault has not yet announced the official price of the hybrid variant. Market estimates place it roughly in the range of Rs 19 lakh to Rs 25 lakh, but the final ex-showroom price will be clear closer to the launch. Renault’s official website also lists hybrid pricing as unannounced for now.

Renault Duster Hybrid Powertrain: 160hp Strong Hybrid
The Renault Duster Hybrid will feature a strong-hybrid system with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder petrol engine. This setup uses a 49hp traction electric motor and a 20hp hybrid starter-generator, along with a 1.4kWh battery pack.
The powertrain’s combined system output is 160hp and 172Nm. Renault has named this setup the E-Tech Strong Hybrid 160, and it will be offered with an 8-speed DHT transmission in the India-spec Duster.
Up to 80% EV Mode in City Driving
The most interesting aspect of the Duster Hybrid is its electric driving capability. According to Renault, the calibration of the regenerative braking and hybrid systems allows the SUV to operate in electric mode for up to 80% of city driving.
This can directly benefit fuel efficiency and urban driving refinement, especially in stop-and-go traffic. The hybrid system reduces dependence on the petrol engine and increases the use of the electric motor in low-speed conditions.
212mm Ground Clearance Provides SUV Character
Renault developed the Duster on the Renault Group Modular Platform (RGMP) with Indian conditions in mind. The hybrid version will also use this architecture.
The SUV has a 212mm ground clearance, which will be useful for rough roads, speed breakers, and uneven surfaces. The Duster’s rugged design and high ground clearance give it a more SUV-focused character than a traditional crossover.
Renault Duster Hybrid Bookings Already Sold Out
Demand for the Duster Hybrid was much stronger than Renault expected even before its launch. The company confirmed in March 2026 that the hybrid production capacity planned for 2026 had been fully allocated.
Around 39-40% of Duster pre-bookings in metro cities chose the hybrid powertrain. Due to strong demand, Renault temporarily paused hybrid bookings and stated that bookings would reopen around Diwali, closer to deliveries.

Premium Features Available in the Duster Hybrid
The Hybrid Duster will offer premium features, positioning itself at the top of the regular Duster lineup. The new Duster offers features such as a panoramic sunroof, an electric-powered tailgate, ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a built-in Google OpenR Link multimedia system, and a 360-degree camera, depending on the variant.
The SUV is also offering 17 ADAS features, bringing the Duster closer to its established segment rivals in terms of technology.
Renault Duster Hybrid Price: What to Expect?
Renault has not yet revealed the official pricing of the Duster Hybrid. Therefore, the Rs. 19 lakh-Rs. 25 lakh figure should be considered an expected range, not an official price.
Current ex-showroom pricing for the Duster’s regular turbo-petrol variants ranges from Rs. 10.49 lakh to Rs. 18.49 lakh. The E-Tech 160 is expected to be priced above this range due to its hybrid powertrain, additional technology, and premium positioning.

The Renault Duster Hybrid’s story is interesting because it has already received strong demand signals even before its entry into the SUV market. The combination of a 160hp strong-hybrid powertrain, a 1.4kWh battery, up to 80% city EV driving capability, and 212mm ground clearance could make it attractive to fuel-efficient midsize SUV buyers.
The biggest test will be real-world efficiency and pricing after launch. If Renault positions the hybrid Duster at a competitive price, the competition could become more interesting between electrified midsize SUV options like the Hyundai Creta Hybrid, Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder.
