BMW M Neue Klasse Patented in India: 2027 EV Could Beat M5

BMW is taking the future of its performance cars in an electric direction, and the biggest example of this could be the upcoming BMW M Neue Klasse.

The BMW M Neue Klasse is considered a key model in the company’s next-generation performance EV architecture. Reports suggest global production could begin in 2027, with an India launch possible later. This model is being seen as the future electric successor to the current BMW M3, but its performance level could be significantly higher than the current M3.

BMW M Neue Klasse to Feature Quad-Motor Setup

Most interesting is its powertrain setup. The BMW M Neue Klasse is reportedly being developed with a quad-motor electric setup, in which an electric motor can power each wheel independently. The biggest advantage of this configuration will be that BMW will be able to control torque at individual wheels extremely quickly.

This technology could improve acceleration as well as cornering and traction. BMW will attempt to combine the instant response capability of electric motors with traditional M-car dynamics.

A Dynamic Performance Control-type software system is expected to be used to manage performance. This system can control individual motors according to different driving situations, optimizing torque vectoring and vehicle stability.

This means that the upcoming electric M car won’t focus solely on straight-line acceleration. BMW’s goal may be to develop an EV that continues the sharp handling and driver-focused character of traditional M cars with an electric powertrain.

Battery Larger Than 100kWh and 800V Architecture

The BMW M Neue Klasse is expected to feature a battery pack larger than 100kWh to power the powerful quad-motor setup. This battery will be integrated with BMW’s next-generation EV technology, which is expected to use an 800V electrical architecture and Gen-6 cylindrical battery cells.

A major benefit of the 800V architecture could be faster charging capability. BMW’s Neue Klasse technology also focuses on improving charging speed, efficiency, and overall energy management.
