Tata Motors is all set to introduce its new compact sedan in India, and the upcoming model will carry a new name — Tata Aeris. The company has released another Tata Aeris Teaser ahead of the September 25, 2026 launch, giving a first proper glimpse of some of the car’s exterior design elements.
The new sedan is expected to replace the Tata Tigor in the company’s lineup and will continue to compete in the sub-4-metre sedan segment.

The latest Tata Aeris Teaser does not reveal the complete car, but it gives enough clues about what Tata has changed. The front-left portion and rear quarter panel can be seen briefly, while the rest of the vehicle remains hidden under the teaser treatment. Tata has also confirmed the September 25 date through its official communication.

Tata Aeris Teaser Reveals New Front-End Details
The latest Tata Aeris Teaser uses an interesting eggshell-inspired visual treatment. Several computer-generated cars are initially shown covered in the material before the focus shifts to the Aeris. The covering then cracks open to reveal portions of the production sedan.
One of the clearest details is the front-left lighting setup. The Aeris appears to get a sharp LED headlamp design with an LED daytime running light positioned above it. The overall treatment appears to share some visual inspiration with Tata’s updated Tiago, although the final design of the Aeris will only be visible when the car is officially unveiled.
The Tata Aeris Teaser also highlights sharper body cuts and creases around the front section. The bumper appears to feature a separate LED fog-light element, giving the sedan a more contemporary appearance than the outgoing Tigor.
At the rear quarter, Tata has kept most of the design hidden. However, reports and earlier design information suggest that the Aeris could receive revised tail-lamp elements, a redesigned bumper and other styling changes. The basic notchback-like silhouette is expected to remain familiar because the new sedan continues to evolve from the Tigor’s compact-sedan format.
Tata Aeris Expected to Get a More Premium Cabin
The exterior changes are only one part of Tata’s update. The cabin is also expected to receive a substantial refresh, with the Aeris likely to borrow several technology and design elements from Tata’s newer models.
Reports suggest that the sedan could feature a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, along with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A digital or semi-digital instrument display is also expected, while features such as wireless charging, automatic climate control, cruise control and Type-C charging could further improve the cabin experience.
A 360-degree camera has also been reported as a possible feature. Other expected equipment includes electrically folding ORVMs, keyless entry and push-button start. However, Tata has not yet released the official variant-wise equipment list, so these features should be treated as expected rather than confirmed.
Safety is another area where the Aeris could receive an upgrade. Reports indicate that six airbags may be offered, alongside features such as ABS, electronic stability control, hill-hold assist and ISOFIX mounts. There is currently no confirmed indication that the Aeris will get an advanced ADAS package.

Petrol and CNG Engines Likely to Continue
Under the bonnet, Tata is expected to retain the existing 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine from the Tigor/Tiago family. The engine currently produces around 86 PS and 113 Nm, with a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT available.
A factory-fitted CNG option is also expected to continue with the Aeris. Reports suggest that the CNG version could produce around 76 PS and 97 Nm, with manual and AMT gearbox options potentially available. These figures are based on the existing powertrain and should not be considered final Aeris specifications until Tata announces them officially.
The continuation of CNG would be important for Tata because the compact-sedan segment has a significant demand for fuel-efficient petrol-CNG models. It would also allow the Aeris to directly take on CNG-equipped rivals.
Tata Aeris Price and Rivals
The Tata Aeris is expected to remain positioned as an affordable sub-4-metre sedan. Current estimates put its price somewhere around Rs. 6 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh, ex-showroom, although the final pricing will only be announced by Tata Motors at the launch. Autocar India currently lists an estimated range of Rs. 6 lakh to Rs. 9 lakh.
Once launched, the Aeris will enter a segment dominated by models such as the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Honda Amaze. The updated styling, additional cabin technology and possible CNG-AMT combination could become important selling points for Tata’s new sedan.
Will There Be a Tata Aeris EV?
Tata could also expand the Aeris nameplate into the electric vehicle space at a later stage. An Aeris.ev has been reported as a possibility, potentially replacing the role currently occupied by the Tigor EV. However, Tata has not yet announced the battery capacity, electric motor, range or launch timeline for such a model.
For now, the immediate focus is the petrol and CNG-powered Aeris. The complete exterior, interior, specifications, variants and pricing should become clearer when Tata officially unveils the car on September 25.

The Tata Aeris appears to be more than a simple cosmetic update to the Tigor, particularly because Tata is introducing it with a new identity. The biggest question now is how much Tata changes the equipment list and pricing.
