Hyundai has unveiled the next-generation Hyundai Tucson N Line at the Paris Motor Show 2026. This sporty version of the standard Tucson features aggressive exterior styling, 20-inch alloy wheels, and a black interior with red accents.
But the story of this SUV is not limited to just cosmetic upgrades. Its powertrain options also include a 288 hp plug-in hybrid setup, which can travel without using the petrol engine under selected driving conditions.

Hyundai has offered mild-hybrid, full-hybrid, and plug-in hybrid options with the 1.6-litre petrol engine in the N Line version. The plug-in hybrid is the most powerful option, while the full hybrid can be an alternative for buyers who want electrified driving with conventional fuel refueling.
Currently, this is a European-spec model; the launch timing and powertrain options for this version in India are not confirmed.

Hyundai Tucson N Line Design Gets Sportier

The exterior of the new Hyundai Tucson N Line retains the standard model’s futuristic design, but some details give it a more aggressive look. The front bumper features a prominent chin spoiler, satin-black air ducts, and sharper lower sections. The side profile features body-colored side skirts, slimmer wheel-arch cladding, glossy-black ORVMs, and C-pillar inserts.
The SUV’s rear section features a sculpted bumper, diffuser-style detailing, and twin exhaust outlets. N Line badges and exclusive 20-inch alloy wheels further emphasize this variant’s sporty identity. Hyundai’s signature H-shaped lighting elements have also been retained.
Beyond the Headlines: 20-inch wheels give the SUV a stronger stance on the road, but larger alloy wheels also have practical implications. Buyers should consider tire replacement costs, ride comfort on rough roads, and the risk of pothole damage. Actual ride quality can only be judged by real-world testing, not specifications.
Black Cabin With Red Accents and Sport Seats
The interior uses an all-black theme with red stitching. Red accents on the seats, dashboard, and door panels give the cabin a sporty character. Leather and textile-suede sport seats are also available, along with an N steering wheel, perforated leather grips, dark-metal detailing, metal pedals, and N Line scuff plates.

For practicality, the rear seats are in a 4:2:4 split-folding configuration and can be slid up to 150 mm. According to Hyundai, luggage capacity is up to 613 liters. This means that despite its sporty styling, the Tucson N Line family takes into account user and luggage-carrying requirements.
288 hp Plug-In Hybrid Is the Performance Highlight
The Hyundai Tucson N Line European powertrain lineup includes three electrified petrol options. The entry-level 1.6-liter T-GDi engine develops 148 hp with 48V mild-hybrid assistance. This version features a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and front-wheel drive.
The full-hybrid setup combines a 1.6-liter turbo-petrol engine and a 1.49 kWh battery. Combined output is 242 hp, and buyers can choose a front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive configuration. This version is equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission.
But the headline-grabbing option is the plug-in hybrid. It produces 288 hp and comes with a 17.1 kWh battery pack. According to Hyundai, its claimed electric driving range with 20-inch N Line wheels is up to 67 km. Front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions are planned, but transmission details are not specified in the supplied specifications.

Beyond the Headlines
The main advantage of a plug-in hybrid is the option to complete regular short trips on battery power, provided the battery is charged and driving conditions are suitable. However, the 67 km figure represents a claimed range, not a guaranteed everyday range. Real-world results may vary depending on speed, weather, traffic, terrain, and climate control.
Regular charging access will also be important to take advantage of a PHEV’s full potential. Where charging is not convenient, buyers should also evaluate petrol consumption and total ownership cost.
17-Inch Pleos Connect Screen and New Cabin Technology

The new Hyundai Tucson N Line features a 17-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which runs on Hyundai’s Android Automotive-based Pleos Connect platform. The Gleo AI voice assistant supports online queries and compatible vehicle functions. Over-the-air updates are also available for supported features.
The equipment list includes a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, Digital Key 2.0, two 15W Qi 2.0 wireless charging pads, and two 100W USB-C ports for rear passengers. Available features in the specification also include Micro Pixel Lighting, which provides beam control and welcome animations using 25,600 individual LED pixels.
Hybrid variants feature Stay Mode to keep the cabin quiet in stationary conditions. Features like Remote Smart Parking Assist and Digital Center Mirror are also available on selected specifications.
Hyundai Tucson N Line Safety and Towing Features
The Safety package includes Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2.0, Highway Driving Assist 2.0, Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist, and Child Presence Detection. Feature availability may vary by market and variant.
Towing capability is also relevant for hybrid buyers. The full-hybrid version has a maximum braked towing capacity of 1,910 kg, while the plug-in hybrid is rated at 1,810 kg. Trailer Reversing Assist helps with low-speed maneuvers.
What This Means for Buyers

The new Hyundai Tucson N Line attempts to combine sporty styling, family-friendly practicality, and electrified powertrain options in a single SUV. A 148 hp mild hybrid is the entry point, a 242 hp full hybrid offers a balance of performance and electrification, while a 288 hp plug-in hybrid is the most powerful option.
But buyers won’t be swayed by maximum power or claimed electric range alone. Factors like charging access, daily driving distance, tire replacement cost, rear-seat practicality, and actual on-road efficiency will factor into the final decision.
There’s one important caveat regarding India: Hyundai hasn’t yet confirmed the Indian launch, pricing, or local powertrain lineup for this specific next-generation Hyundai Tucson N Line. Therefore, European specifications shouldn’t be considered confirmed details of the India-bound model.
Auto India Daily Verdict
The new Hyundai Tucson N Line strongest proposition is its choice-based electrified lineup. The 288 hp PHEV offers performance along with up to 67 km of claimed electric range, but its real-world benefit will depend on charging routine.
If Hyundai launches it in India, pricing, localization and charging convenience will decide how compelling this sporty premium SUV will be.
