A new name is preparing to enter India’s premium SUV market. Latest reports regarding the JSW Combat SUV India Launch suggest that JSW Motors may introduce its first own-brand passenger vehicle in India around mid-December 2026.
This JSW Combat SUV will be based on Chery’s Jetour T2 and is expected to be launched in India under the name JSW Combat.

Earlier, JSW Motors was planning to launch this SUV around the festive season or Diwali 2026, but according to the latest reports, the launch timeline has now shifted to December. The company has not yet officially announced the exact launch date.
Most interestingly, the JSW Combat SUV could be introduced as a plug-in hybrid SUV. With this, JSW Motors will launch its independent passenger vehicle business in the Indian market, which will be separate from JSW MG Motor India’s business.

The JSW Combat SUV will be based on the Jetour T2
The base of JSW Motors’ upcoming SUV will be the global-spec Jetour T2. This model will be sold in India with JSW branding, while the Jetour branding will be replaced by the JSW name and badging. Test mules have already been spotted in India, making it clear that local-market development is underway.
The Jetour T2’s overall design is rugged and boxy. The SUV features an upright stance, squarish LED headlamps, chunky bumpers, prominent body cladding, roof rails, and vertically positioned LED tail-lamps. The spare wheel in the rear section is mounted on the tailgate, giving the SUV a traditional off-road-inspired look.
The recent update introduced the China-spec Jetour T2 facelift with revised styling. It features changes like circular-style headlights, a revised front bumper, slimmer JETOUR badging, and full-width LED lighting elements.
However, the exact design elements of the facelift will be carried over to the India-spec JSW Combat, which is yet to be officially confirmed.
Premium Technology Package Will Be Available in the Cabin
The Jetour T2’s cabin is also quite technology-focused, and a significant portion of it could be carried forward to the India-bound JSW Combat. The global model features a large 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a digital driver’s display.
Features like a panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable seats, wireless charging, automatic climate control, and a premium audio system are also available in the SUV. Earlier India-focused reports have also expected safety features like a 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS.
The facelifted T2’s cabin technology has been further updated for the Chinese market. It features Qualcomm Snapdragon 8255-based infotainment hardware, AI voice-control functionality, and upgraded comfort seats. However, it’s too early to consider these features part of the India-spec Combat’s final equipment list.
JSW Combat to Feature Plug-In Hybrid Powertrain
The JSW Combat SUV could be one of the most interesting upcoming SUVs in terms of powertrain. The India-spec model is expected to come with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, which could be based on Jetour T2 i-DM technology.
The China-spec updated Jetour T2 PHEV uses a 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine. According to recent reports, the petrol engine in the updated version produces 156 PS and 220 Nm, while a hybrid system with electric motors provides combined output and electric driving capability.
Battery options also vary depending on the market. In China, the updated T2 PHEV is offered with 26.61kWh and 45.12kWh battery packs. The larger battery version has a claimed pure-electric range of up to 173km, while the combined range is claimed to be up to 1,400km on the CLTC cycle.
However, these figures are for the China-spec Jetour T2. The company has not yet confirmed the exact battery size, electric range, combined power output, and transmission setup of the India-spec JSW Combat.

JSW Combat SUV Launch Timeline December 2026 Reported
The JSW Combat SUV India launch timeline has recently seen a change. Earlier reports had said that the SUV would be launched around Diwali 2026. Now, latest reports have revealed that the launch has been postponed to mid-December 2026.
The reason for the launch delay has not been officially confirmed. Reports have cited some components coming from China and approval processes as potential factors. The final launch date is still awaited from JSW Motors.
As for pricing, the JSW Combat could be positioned in the premium SUV segment. Current reports suggest an expected ex-showroom price between Rs. 30 lakh and Rs. 50 lakh.
JSW Motors’ Big New-Energy SUV Plan
The JSW Combat SUV won’t be just a standalone product. JSW Motors is planning to expand its independent passenger vehicle business in India. Reports indicate that the company plans to introduce 15 new-energy vehicles over the next few years, including hybrids and fully electric models.
The company’s manufacturing setup is being developed in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, where local assembly and production capabilities are expected to be expanded in the future. JSW’s broader plan also includes establishing its dealer and customer-touchpoint network in India.
Following the JSW Combat SUV, more SUVs are expected to join JSW Motors’ portfolio, including Chery-based electric models. According to Autocar India’s current model listing, the iCar V23 and Jaecoo J5 are also planned as future JSW products.
