The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is set to enter India in an even more premium avatar. The global reveal of the new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class has already taken place, and the luxury sedan could be launched in India on 5 October 2026.
The updated Maybach S-Class will feature major upgrades like a bigger illuminated grille, next-generation cabin technology, and an electrified V8 powertrain.

The India ex-showroom price of the current Mercedes-Maybach S-Class starts at around Rs. 2.88 crore. Considering the additional technology and equipment in the updated model, the price could go above Rs. 3 crore. Autocar India also expects the India price of the new Maybach S-Class to be above Rs. 3 crore.

New Mercedes-Maybach S-Class: Bigger and More Premium Design
The most noticeable change to the exterior of the New Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is its redesigned grille. According to official information from Mercedes, the Maybach grille is now 20 percent larger and can be offered with an illuminated surround. The illuminated Maybach wordmark is also included within the grille.
The front profile also features new-generation lighting elements, while the Mercedes star and Maybach branding receive the illuminated treatment in select markets. The car will be offered with 20-inch and 21-inch wheel options, while personalization options such as manufacturer and forged alloy wheels will also be available.
The overall design retains Maybach’s familiar ultra-luxury character, but the detailing has been made more modern. Mercedes has also focused heavily on lighting signatures and customization options along the exterior.
MBUX Superscreen and New Digital Technology in the Cabin
The biggest update to the new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is visible in the cabin. Mercedes has introduced its MB.OS operating system with the fourth-generation MBUX in this model, which is used for the first time in the Maybach range.
The MBUX Superscreen setup integrates a 14.4-inch central display and a 12.3-inch passenger display under a continuous glass surface. The digital instrument cluster is also a 12.3-inch unit and is available with optional 3D functionality.
The luxury experience for rear-seat passengers has also been upgraded. The rear cabin features 13.1-inch displays, redesigned individual controls, and additional comfort features. A 10-liter refrigerator is also available in the second-row area, further enhancing the Maybach’s chauffeur-focused character.
The ambient lighting setup includes 199 LEDs, 10 color worlds, and 64 individually selectable colors. Mercedes has also introduced a leather-free interior option for the first time in the new Maybach S-Class.

Mercedes-Maybach S 680 Could Get a 612hp V8
The New Mercedes-Maybach S-Class also receives significant changes in terms of powertrain. In global markets, the S 580 is powered by an updated 4.0-liter V8 engine, producing 537hp and 750Nm. A plug-in hybrid version, the S 580e, is also available in some markets, which comes with a six-cylinder engine and an electric motor.
The top-spec S 680 will be the most interesting version for India. According to the latest reports, the India-spec model could get a higher-output version of the 4.0-litre V8, developing around 612hp and 850Nm. Mercedes offers different powertrain configurations for the S 680 depending on the market, so the India-spec final specification will be confirmed at the time of launch.
The S 580e plug-in hybrid is also available in international markets. This setup combines a 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine, an electric motor, and a 22kWh battery, with an electric-only range of up to around 98km. Its availability in India is not yet officially confirmed.
Adaptive AIRMATIC Suspension
To improve the luxury sedan’s ride comfort, the New Mercedes-Maybach S-Class features adaptive AIRMATIC air suspension with predictive damping technology. The system is designed to adjust suspension behavior based on road conditions.
Mercedes has also retained the Maybach-specific driving mode, which provides comfort-focused suspension calibration.
India Launch and Expected Price
The updated version of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is reportedly scheduled to launch in India on October 5, 2026. The current S 580 has an ex-showroom price of Rs. 2.88 crore (approximately Rs. 3 crore) for the new model with additional equipment and technology. Final India pricing will be confirmed at launch.
In India, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class competes with traditional ultra-luxury sedans, as well as high-end luxury SUVs and performance-oriented luxury models. Models like the BMW 7 Series/i7 family are relevant alternatives in this price bracket.
