Mercedes GLC Electric India Launch and Bookings

The Mercedes GLC Electric India launch is planned for the end of 2026, while bookings will begin in October. Local assembly should also help Mercedes position the electric SUV more competitively against upcoming luxury EV rivals.

The India-spec GLC 400 4MATIC gets a dual-motor setup producing 360kW, or around 490 hp, and 800Nm of peak torque. Mercedes claims a 0-100 kmph acceleration time of just 4.3 seconds.

The SUV uses a 94kWh usable lithium-ion battery and has a claimed WLTP range of up to 715km. The GLC Electric also uses an 800V electrical architecture and supports DC charging at up to 330kW in the 400 4MATIC. Mercedes says up to 305km of WLTP range can be added in 10 minutes under suitable charging conditions.

Standard Wheelbase Version for India

The Mercedes GLC Electric heading to India will use the standard wheelbase version, with a 2,972mm wheelbase. The model is 4,858mm long, according to current India specification data.

Mercedes also sells a longer-wheelbase GLC Electric in China, but the India-bound SUV will stick with the standard configuration rather than the China-specific extended version.

One of the biggest talking points inside the Mercedes GLC Electric is its 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen. The large display stretches across the dashboard and integrates the driver’s display, central infotainment screen and passenger display.

The latest Mercedes-Benz software also brings the new MB.OS operating system, while the cabin combines a heavily digital layout with more conventional controls in selected areas. Mercedes has also focused on improving the usability of the cabin rather than making every function dependent on the touchscreen.

Other expected India-spec highlights include a panoramic roof with Sky Control, multi-zone climate control, wireless charging, Level 2 ADAS and a full-LED lighting package.

Mercedes GLC Electric Price and Rivals

Mercedes-Benz has not announced the official India price yet. Current estimates put the Mercedes GLC Electric price around Rs. 80 lakh–Rs. 85 lakh, although the final figure will be revealed closer to launch. CarWale currently estimates Rs. 80–85 lakh, while other market estimates are slightly higher, so this should be treated as an expected range rather than confirmed pricing.

The GLC Electric will primarily take on upcoming premium electric SUVs such as the BMW iX3, which is expected to arrive in India in 2027. The Mercedes will have a strong advantage on paper with its 715km claimed WLTP range, 490hp-class output and 800Nm of torque.

Auto India Daily Verdict

Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric India launch ko year-end tak lane ka decision brand ke EV portfolio ke liye kaafi important hai. 715km claimed range, around 490hp, 800Nm torque, 800V architecture aur local assembly is SUV ko premium EV segment mein strong package bana dete hain.

Sabse interesting point bookings ka October mein open hona hai. Agar Mercedes India aggressive pricing rakhti hai, to GLC Electric upcoming BMW iX3 ke saath premium electric SUV segment mein ek serious contender ban sakti hai.
