Porsche 911 GT3 Bergsport Unveiled With Manual Gearbox, Alpine-Inspired Design

Porsche has unveiled the new 911 GT3 Bergsport, a limited-production special edition inspired by Alpine driving roads and the brand’s hill-climb heritage.

Limited to just 100 units, the Porsche 911 GT3 Bergsport is based on the current 911 GT3 Touring and will be sold exclusively in Austria, France, Italy and Switzerland.

Developed by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, the 911 GT3 Bergsport combines the performance-focused hardware of the current GT3 with a bespoke design theme inspired by the Alps. Porsche says the special edition focuses on lightweight construction, precise handling and a more direct driving experience.

Only 100 examples of the Porsche 911 GT3 Bergsport will be produced. The special edition is restricted to customers in Austria, France, Italy and Switzerland, meaning buyers in markets such as the US will not be able to purchase the car through the regular new-car programme.

The car is based on the current 911 GT3 with Touring Package and comes with the Lightweight Package. Unlike a conventional Lightweight Package configuration, however, Porsche has fitted forged aluminium wheels instead of magnesium forged wheels.

The company says the aluminium wheels offer greater durability for the demanding conditions encountered on Alpine roads.

911 GT3 Bergsport Gets Unique Alpine-Inspired Design

The biggest visual highlight is the new Valleygreenmetallic exterior colour, developed specifically for the Bergsport through Porsche’s Paint to Sample Plus programme. The shade takes inspiration from the deep green and earthy tones of the Alpine landscape.

The forged aluminium wheels are finished in White Gold and Ceramica, while the brake callipers get a distinctive orange finish inspired by the glow seen on Alpine peaks around sunrise and sunset.

Other exterior highlights include:

  • Valleygreenmetallic exterior paint
  • Lightweight forged aluminium wheels
  • Orange brake callipers
  • Tinted HD-Matrix LED headlights
  • Front luggage-compartment lid with a chequered flag motif
  • GT3 Bergsport badge on the B-pillar
  • Special Bergsport emblem on the engine cover
  • Front-axle lift system
  • 90-litre fuel tank

The chequered flag design on the front luggage compartment pays tribute to the Porsche 908 Bergspyder, connecting the new road car with the company’s hill-climb history.

Porsche 911 GT3 Bergsport Interior

Inside, the Alpine theme continues with Valleygreen leather on the folding carbon-fibre bucket seats. Interestingly, despite the Lightweight Package, the Bergsport retains a rear-seat system, making it more practical than a typical rear-seat-delete GT3 configuration.

The cabin also gets orange stitching and GT3 lettering on the headrests. Orange detailing is carried over to the start switch, accelerator pedal, steering wheel’s 12-o’clock marking and the gearshift pattern.

Other equipment includes:

  • Sport Chrono Package with Porsche Design GT Clock
  • Bose Surround Sound System
  • Light Design Package
  • Bespoke Bergsport badging
  • Special leather centre-console detailing
  • Matching key, key pouch and documentation wallet

The dashboard and door panels feature decorative stitching inspired by mountain peaks, further reinforcing the Alpine theme.

911 GT3 Bergsport Engine And Performance

Underneath, the Bergsport remains based on the current 911 GT3 Touring. The standard GT3’s naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six produces 510hp and 450Nm, with Porsche offering a six-speed manual transmission alongside the seven-speed PDK on the regular GT3 Touring.

For the Bergsport, Porsche specifically confirms the six-speed manual gearbox, fitting the car’s focus on mechanical driver engagement. The Bergsport’s official release does not provide a separate horsepower or acceleration figure, so it would be better not to claim a unique 0-100km/h time or top speed for this edition.

90-Litre Fuel Tank And Front-Axle Lift

The Bergsport isn’t just about appearance. Porsche has added a 90-litre fuel tank, giving the car greater touring range for longer drives through the mountains.

A front-axle lift system is also included to make the low-slung sports car easier to use on steep ramps and uneven roads.

Although Porsche has revealed the car and its specifications on September 1, 2026, its public/world premiere is scheduled for September 3 at the Arosa ClassicCar hill climb in Switzerland.

Porsche brand ambassador Jörg Bergmeister will drive the GT3 Bergsport on the 7.3-kilometre course, which features 76 corners and 422 metres of elevation gain.

Auto India Daily Take

The Porsche 911 GT3 Bergsport is less about adding outright performance and more about creating a highly exclusive driver’s car with a strong sense of place.

The combination of a naturally aspirated GT3 engine, six-speed manual gearbox, Lightweight Package, rear seats, 90-litre fuel tank and Alpine-inspired detailing makes it a particularly unusual 911 special edition.

With only 100 units planned and availability restricted to four European markets, the Bergsport is likely to become a serious collector’s car even before its first customer deliveries.
