Range Rover Electric Battery and Range

The RR Electric features a large 118.5kWh battery pack with 800V electrical architecture. According to JLR, this battery is capable of delivering a range of up to 600km on a full charge.

This figure is based on the WLTP testing cycle, so real-world range may vary depending on driving conditions, speed, temperature, and road conditions.

Such a large battery has been used to strengthen the Range Rover Electric as a long-distance luxury EV. Its fast-charging capability is also impressive to reduce range anxiety.

551hp Power from Dual Electric Motors

The RR Electric is offered with two electric motors. Together, the two motors generate a maximum combined power of 551hp and 850Nm of torque.

This large torque output ensures the SUV’s rapid acceleration. According to JLR, the Range Rover Electric can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.5 seconds.

This figure is particularly impressive considering that the Range Rover Electric is a large luxury SUV. This means it will combine Range Rover’s traditional comfort and premium character with the instant torque of an EV powertrain.

350kW Fast Charging Support

The Range Rover Electric features not only a large battery but also high-speed charging capability.

According to the company, using a 350kW DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in just 22 minutes.

JLR claims that up to 220 km of additional range can be achieved with just 10 minutes of charging.

However, the actual charging speed will depend on charger infrastructure and charging conditions. 350kW charging infrastructure is currently limited in India, so owners’ fast-charging experiences may vary depending on location.

What are the Range Rover Electric versions available in India?

The Range Rover Electric will be available in several versions in India. The company is offering the standard-wheelbase model in Autobiography trim.

The long-wheelbase Range Rover Electric can also be booked in SV, SV Ultra, and SV Black variants.

The standard-wheelbase First Edition is also available for booking in India. This will offer buyers a variety of options in terms of luxury, performance, and equipment.

The Range Rover Electric is not just an EV

The Range Rover brand has long been associated with luxury, comfort, and off-road capability. Maintaining this character with an electric powertrain has been a major challenge for JLR.

The Range Rover Electric has been developed with this philosophy in mind. The company has designed the EV as a completely new product, while retaining the familiar luxury positioning of the Range Rover family.

Its electric powertrain provides instant torque, while a larger battery makes it more practical for long distances.

Price and Positioning

In India, the Range Rover Electric will be positioned as a premium luxury EV. Its price is estimated to be between Rs. 2.80 crore and Rs.2.95 crore (ex-showroom).

In this price bracket, it will compete with premium models in India’s ultra-luxury electric SUV space. The Range Rover badge, high-end cabin, and strong performance will be its major selling points.

However, exact variant-wise pricing and delivery details for the different versions are yet to be revealed.

Bookings now open, deliveries on the horizon

The launch of bookings for the Range Rover Electric in India marks a significant step in JLR’s electrification strategy. The company has attempted to target different luxury buyers by making it available in multiple variants.

A claimed range of up to 600km, 551hp power, 850Nm torque, and a 4.5-second 0-100kmph acceleration make it more than just a conventional luxury EV. Its 350kW fast charging capability also makes it more appealing for long-distance touring.

All eyes will now be on the Range Rover Electric’s variant-wise pricing, deliveries, and real-world range in India. It could prove to be a key product for JLR, competing against Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and other premium EVs.
