Tata Motors’ portfolio could see a lot of action in the next few months. The company has announced a product plan for FY2027, including two new nameplates and four facelifts, covering both the ICE and EV segments.
The Safari EV, next-gen Nexon, Avina, and updated Tigor/Tigor EV are the most important models in Tata’s upcoming pipeline until September 2026.

Launch timelines for some of these models are backed by the company’s roadmap or testing activity, while exact prices and specifications have not yet been officially announced.

1. Tata Safari EV
The Tata Safari EV is the most important model in the upcoming lineup. It will be Tata’s first three-row electric SUV and will be positioned above the Harrier EV as the brand’s flagship electric SUV. The Tata Safari EV is reportedly scheduled for launch around the 2026 festive season.
The Safari EV’s architecture will be related to the Harrier EV’s Acti.EV+ platform. Reports suggest it could feature 65kWh and 75kWh battery options and an AWD configuration along with RWD. However, Tata has not yet officially announced India-specific battery capacity, motor output, and final range.
A test mule of the Safari EV was also spotted in India in June 2026. Spy shots revealed an ICE Safari-like overall silhouette, along with an EV-specific underbody setup and Harrier EV-like rear suspension details.

2. Next-Gen Tata Nexon
The next-generation model of the Tata Nexon has also entered the testing phase. In August 2026, heavily camouflaged test mules were spotted on public roads, indicating revised proportions and a boxier silhouette compared to the current model.
Spy shots have revealed changes to the A-pillar area and rear windscreen profile. The rear section of the test mule also appears slightly different from the current Nexon, although the production-spec design is currently under camouflage.
Reports suggest that the existing ICE engines will largely be carried forward in terms of powertrain. The current Nexon is available in petrol, turbo-CNG, diesel, and EV configurations, but Tata has not confirmed the final engine lineup for the next-gen model. The possibility of upgrades to the EV version has also been reported.
The next-gen Nexon is expected to launch in 2027. The exact launch date and official price announcement are still pending.

3. Tata Avinya
Tata Avinya is a premium electric vehicle program that takes the company’s mainstream EV portfolio a step up. Tata showcased the Avinya with the Gen 3 born-electric architecture, and according to the official website, the Avinya will be introduced to the market in 2027.
The production version of the Avinya will have a significantly different positioning from current Tata EVs. The company has developed the Gen 3 architecture as a pure-electric platform, focusing on advanced connectivity, ADAS, and high-speed charging capability.
The production-spec Avinya has also been spotted testing in India, suggesting that the development program has reached an advanced stage. Current reports position it for a 2027 launch.
Tata has not yet revealed the final battery capacity, range, motor output, and price of the production model. Therefore, these figures should be considered estimates for now.

Slimmer headlights, revised grille, updated front bumper and fresh alloy wheel design are visible in the patent images. Connected-looking trim and revised bumper elements are also expected in the rear section.
There is a possibility of the Tigor facelift taking design and feature inspiration from the updated Tiago in the cabin. Reports have revealed that a freestanding infotainment screen, revised instrument cluster, new steering wheel, updated center console and additional convenience features are expected.
The existing 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and CNG options are likely to continue in the engine lineup, but final specifications will be confirmed after Tata’s official announcement.

5. Tata Tigor EV Facelift
The Tigor EV could also receive major updates alongside the ICE Tigor. Tata’s FY2027 product plan identifies the Tigor and Tigor EV facelifts as upcoming updates to the entry-level portfolio.
The exterior of the Tigor EV facelift could largely align with the design direction of the updated ICE Tigor, but EV-specific grille, wheels, and bumper treatment are expected.
Reports regarding battery and motor specifications suggest similarities to the Tiago EV’s hardware, but Tata has not officially confirmed the Tigor EV facelift’s final battery pack, motor output, and range. Therefore, it would be inaccurate to use the exact figures in this article as confirmed specifications.

What is Tata’s FY2027 strategy?
Tata Motors has identified FY2027 as an important year for product launches. The company’s announced roadmap plans a six-product pipeline, including two new nameplates and four facelifts.
The Sierra EV was the initial product on this roadmap, but it has already been launched, so including it in the September 2026 upcoming car list would not be technically correct.
Along with the upcoming Safari EV and entry-level Tiago/Tigor updates, Tata’s premium Avanya program will also play an important role. Avanya’s first production model is expected to arrive in the second half of FY2027.
