Tata Motors Crosses 63,000 Sales Mark in July

Tata Motors Sales July 2026 performance was quite positive for the company. The passenger vehicle business dispatched a total of 63,760 units in July, a significant jump for the company compared to the previous year.

Tata Safari and Tata Nexon showcased as part of Tata Motors July 2026 sales lineup in India.

The 59 percent annual growth indicates that both Tata Motors’ SUV and EV lineups remain quite popular with customers. Demand for models like the Nexon, Punch, Curvv, Harrier, Safari, and Tiago supported the company’s monthly sales.

Competition in the Indian automobile market has become even more aggressive than before, but Tata Motors has once again recorded impressive growth thanks to its product strategy and EV leadership.

Domestic Sales Gain the Most Strength

The domestic market contributed the most to the company’s total sales. In July 2026, Tata Motors dispatched 62,611 passenger vehicles to India, compared to 39,521 units in July 2025.

This means the company achieved 58% growth in its domestic business.

The demand for SUVs in the Indian market is continuously increasing, and Tata Motors is in a strong position in this segment with products like the Punch, Nexon, Harrier, Safari, and Curvv. This also led to a significant jump in the company’s domestic sales.

Tata Motors Sales July 2026 Electric Vehicles Segment

The biggest highlight of Tata Motors’ July 2026 sales was the company’s electric vehicle business.

During July 2026, Tata Motors sold 15,217 electric vehicles, compared to just 7,124 units in July 2025. This marked a 114% year-on-year growth in the EV segment.

With this performance, electric vehicles accounted for approximately 24% of Tata Motors’ total monthly sales. Last year, this share was approximately 18%.

This means that EV penetration has improved by 8 percentage points in just one year, reflecting the growing demand in the Indian EV market.

Demand for ICE Models Also Strong

Along with electric vehicles, demand for Tata Motors’ petrol and diesel models also remains strong.

The company shipped 48,543 Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles in July 2026. This represents approximately 76% of total monthly sales.

Models like the Nexon, Punch, Harrier, Safari, and Curvv continue to support the company’s sales. This also demonstrates that despite EV growth, demand for conventional fuel vehicles remains strong in the Indian market.

Exports Growth, but Contribution Still Low

Tata Motors has also performed well in terms of exports.

The company exported 1,149 vehicles in July 2026, compared to 654 units in July 2025. This represents a record 76% growth in exports.

Although the growth percentage is impressive, exports still contribute only around 1.8% to total sales.

Tata Motors’ export business is still quite small compared to brands like Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai. The company’s focus currently appears to be more on the Indian market and domestic demand.

Tata EV Portfolio and Future Strategy

Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TPEM) currently has India’s largest mainstream EV portfolio.

The company’s electric lineup includes models such as the Tiago EV, Tigor EV, Punch EV, Nexon EV, Curvv EV, Harrier EV, and Safari EV. These EVs are priced between ₹6.99 lakh and ₹21.69 lakh, ex-showroom.

In terms of range, these electric cars offer a claimed driving range of 226 km to 665 km (MIDC Part 1 + Part 2 Cycle).

The company has already announced a target to increase its annual passenger vehicle sales from 6.4 lakh to 1.2 million units by FY2031. Approximately 47% of this growth is expected to come from electric vehicles. As part of this strategy, the company plans to expand its EV portfolio to 10 electric models.

Auto India Daily Analysis

Tata Motors Sales July 2026 numbers clearly show that the company’s growth isn’t solely dependent on one segment. Strong SUV demand in the domestic market, the rapidly growing popularity of electric vehicles, and a stable ICE portfolio have combined to deliver a record monthly sales figure of 63,760 units.

The biggest positive signal has come from the EV business, where the company has recorded an annual growth of 114% and the contribution of electric vehicles has reached 24% in total sales.

If Tata Motors continues to launch new electric models and expand production capacity at this pace, the company can further strengthen its leadership in the Indian EV market in the coming years.

Overall, the Tata Motors Sales July 2026 performance has proved to be another successful month for Tata Motors.
