Maruti Suzuki has launched the Dzire CNG AMT in the Indian market, expanding the CNG powertrain to include an automatic transmission.

The Dzire CNG AMT is offered in VXi and ZXi variants. Maruti has also launched the Swift CNG AMT and Baleno CNG AMT, simultaneously introducing a CNG + AMT combination in its popular models.

Maruti Dzire CNG AMT Price and Variants
The Maruti Dzire CNG AMT variant lineup is positioned alongside the existing CNG range. The CNG version is available in VXi and ZXi trims.

Maruti has introduced the CNG-AMT as an automatic alternative to the existing CNG-manual versions. The Dzire CNG manual has a claimed fuel efficiency of 33.73 km/kg.
36.47 km/kg Claimed Mileage
The biggest highlight of the Maruti Dzire CNG AMT is its claimed fuel-efficiency figure. According to Maruti, this sedan delivers a claimed fuel efficiency of 36.47 km/kg.
This is 2.74 km/kg more than the 33.73 km/kg figure of the CNG-manual Dzire. Therefore, the AMT version offers higher claimed efficiency along with the convenience of automatic driving.
Real-world mileage may vary depending on traffic, driving style, road conditions, load, and CNG quality.
1.2-Litre Z-Series Engine with 5-Speed AMT
The Maruti Dzire CNG AMT uses Maruti’s 1.2-liter, three-cylinder Z-Series engine. In CNG mode, the engine produces around 68.7 bhp and 101 Nm.
Transmission duties are handled by a 5-speed AMT gearbox. A 5-speed manual gearbox is available with the same engine in the CNG manual version.

Autocar’s current specifications list the CNG output at around 69.75 hp and 101.8 Nm, while Maruti’s rounded figures are around 70 hp and 102 Nm.

55-Liter CNG Tank in Boot
The Maruti Dzire CNG AMT 55-liter water-equivalent CNG tank is positioned inside the boot. This packaging significantly impacts the practical use of the standard Dzire’s 382-liter boot capacity in the CNG version.
Maruti has also retained the spare wheel along with the CNG tank. Some of the company’s newer models, such as the Victorias, feature underbody CNG tank packaging, but the Dzire CNG AMT continues with the boot-mounted tank setup.
Same Features as CNG-AMT
The feature package of Maruti Dzire CNG AMT continues with the equipment list of normal VXi and ZXi versions according to the variant.

Apart from the powertrain, the feature package in the CNG-AMT version has been largely kept as per the regular corresponding trims.
CNG-AMT Gets Retuned Suspension
To handle the additional weight of the CNG tank, Maruti has given retuned suspension in the CNG versions. The cars also feature a dedicated CNG fuel-level indicator and a fuel-change switch.
The driver can switch between petrol and CNG operation via the fuel-change switch. This setup is part of the factory-fitted CNG system.

However, the 55-liter CNG tank in the trunk will make luggage practicality different from the regular petrol Dzire. Buyers will need to consider automatic convenience, claimed mileage, and trunk space requirements.
